I work for an organisation (on eof the bigger UK Banks) that is merged with a Scottish organisation.

I am Welsh, but don't sound it in the least, and I get treated in a certain way, always polite, but that's all.

As soon as you let slip your Welsh, it's a whole different story. It's like I'm family. Then eventually the anti-English rhetoric starts. And it's not just football. It' disgusting, and it certainly is the majority of people I work with, and I think they are a fairly good representation of Scottish society as a whole.

Even the First Minister or whatever you call him publicly stated he would not support England in the world cup. Now that is poor form somone who should know better. He could have avoided the issue, or just lied, hell most politicians do!

It really is time that Scotland lost the chip on it's shoulder about England.

After all, it was you greedy buggers who agreed to sign the Act of Union for financial gain, no one forced you! And all after taking the trouble to win your independance!

Actually this is quite right. The word "jock" is a pejorative term. Definition below.
Such terms as ****** (*****), redneck, cracker, dyke, queer, ******, tranny, kraut, geek, chav, acidhead,or cripple are only considered pejorative if used by a non-member of the group.

In other words we can call ourselves Jocks but non scots can't..

Funny how an Aussie, living in the States has become such a Scottish icon

 

Im sorry if this offends anyone, but I lived in Scotland and most of them hate English people the football especially brings this out. But beating up England fans especially young ones really p!sses me off.

I know all the Scotts on here always say this isn't true but its just you who dont hate the English. Wake up!!!

My younger brother's head teacher made a racist remark about the football, someone who should be setting examples.

Thanks for the generalisation mate, as I've mentioned in this post elsewhere I've lived and worked in Scotland most of my life and I certainly have no anti-English feelings, neither do any of my friends or family.

Why am I proud of being Scottish? Probably the same reason your proud of your nationality.
