I think the 'sweaties' are pretty pathetic in their hatred of the English. But if they want to remain bitter and live in the past rather than moving on to become a successful, mature nation, then that's their perogative!

I don't hate people that are English, but I dislike the stereotypical comments made on this forum. Banter is all well and good, but it's funny how the same people are scared to use it with other races of people

Economic analysis would suggest you are incorrect.

In terms of direct subsidy it is true that Scotland would appear to recieve more than it's fair share of support from the public coffers.

However if the analysis includes direct and indirect spending (i.e. location allowances, building grants, etc) the South East of England gains far more from public spending directly into the economy as the majority of government agencies are based there.

So in fact it is southerners who would be at more of a loss than northerners should public expenditure run out.

Oh, and remember that for a lot of years the money in the public coffers came from Scottish oil

I think it is regrettable to see all this anti attitude between peoples of the the countries in the Union.
