Oh well looks like I need to step up looking for another car now. The exhaust on the clio has now corroded off near to the back-box. Just spent a better part trying to patch it up whilst the England games was on.

That just wouldn't happen with an ignis

I'd thermal tape it on and get down a stealers sharpish lol

No chance with the thermal tape. Looks like a trip down to the nearest Kwik Fit on Saturday Morning. Up-to now this is the second thing that's gone wrong with this car. The first being the air-con packing up. And now the exhaust. Should have bought Japanese. I think French cars and me don't mix.

Sounds like you're gonna go for the Iggy, as Mike said they are tough little cars mechanically. I felt the engine was pretty unburstable and seemed very strong (and willing to rev!) especially over 4K rpm.

Good luck with the gaffered up 'zaust at the main stealers, and enjoy!

I have seen a car for sale which I intend trading in my current run-a-bout a 1.6 Clio 16V RSI which is developing all sorts of trouble for me.

When I enquired with the trader who is selling it in terms of service history I got the following reply:

Make: SUZUKI
Model: IGNIS
Body Style: Hatchback
Version: 1.5 VVT Sport
Mileage: 29431

Yes the vehicle has full service history, but not all of it with a suzuki dealer.

Now am I right in thinking that Suzukis come with a 3 year Warranty as standard? If so, with the car not being serviced fully at a main dealers, it will not be legible for the remaining warranty?

Thanks in advance..

Hello again,

They do come with a 3 year or 60,000 mile warrenty (might be 36,000 I will check the manual in a bit).

Im pretty sure you do void the warrenty at least for engine parts etc...

I'm guessing they have done what quite a few others have and thats buy the service kits cheap off ebay and get them done that way. It does work out very cheap but obviously at the risk of losing your warrenty.

I honestly wouldn't worry about these engines letting go as long as the services have been done it should be fine...but better safe than sorry i suppose.

I'd pop down to a suzuki dealer and talk to them.

Yes hello again. Well it's taken a while. Got hooked on looking for Daihatsu YRV's (Especially the Turbo) but had no luck. And now have come full circle again. Just joined the sisoc.co.uk forums. It appears the ignis doesn't really have issues apart from the circlip on the driveshaft and the odd electrical gremlin with the speedo. I suppose that's what you get with Jap cars, reliability.

This is the car I have in mind to look at this weekend:

In you're opinion, do think it's worth looking at? Will be hoping to get top money trade in against my Clio (£3000) against it.

I havn't driven one with bigger wheels yet. I like the handling (or lack there of ) with the standard 15" wheels but each to their own.

One thing to point out is that tow bar. With very little tourqe below 4000rpm it will have had to work hard if its towing a lot of weight.

The towbar is a bit of a worry. I hope it wasn't towing a caravan I believe the bigger wheels helps with traction.

Let me know what you think of it if you do drive it. The standard wheels are fine in the dry its just in the wet you need to back off a bit.

Personally I think the new Swift looks fantastic -- everything the New MINI should have been. Stylish, small, economical.

I haven't driven one, but I've had a couple of loan Wagon R+s and they were terrible. Hoping the new Swift is better, though.

They made me test drive one of these when i went to test the ignis..they arent bad. Bit cramped for me but im pretty tall. Nippy and handled quite nicely. Well put together. Just didn't have anything special about it.

The sport version will be coming out soon. 125 bhp, nice looking car.

the dealers also make "soopers" directed at mini coopers of course which look quite good.

But wheres the Air-con? I did consider a swift, but the ignis threw it for me due to the extra creature comforts. Especially in this weather.

Well just come back to view the car I saw on Autotrader. Unfortunately I don't think could I live with a Suzuki ignis.
First impressions when I got to the garage selling it:

Looks nice and sporty.
The 17" alloys x4 are curbed. Plus looks like it needs new tyres.

Theres a scratch and big chip of paint missing on the near side skirt.

The rear wiper blade needs changing as it's falling apart

Besides those first impressions, not a bad looking car.

Now the test drive:

The car feels skittish on the 17" alloys

The pedals are angled too high. Which was causing me some discomfort.

Whilst going round a round-a-bout I felt some knocking coming from the clutch.

The pioneer stereo looked a bit worse for wear.

The only best thing was that the seats were nice.

Next bit the trade in price and discuss what issues the car has:

Trade in on my car wait for it............

£2250 (On a X reg Renault Clio 16v RSI with 76K on the clock)

Price of the 2004 iginis £5,450.

Now heres the laughable part. I mentioned the scuffed alloys and tyres, and was told that it would have to cost me to have them fixed! @ wait for it...............

£250 for the 4. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway. Nice looking car but I'm afraid I couldn't live with an ignis. Sorry Ignis owners.
