They did actually...the empty ones were the separation seats between fans
), and rival fans kept apart. It was one of the things The Smogs FC (1986) bragged about when the ground was opened.Incidentally, 3 of my Students went (buying tickets as they arrived), and saw empty seats near them.
St James's Park has a capacity of 52218, yet our highest gate this Season is 52327 - and the fans were kept apart...
That's what happens when you sell ALL your tickets!
