Each victory in the arena nets you one fame point. IIRC each closed gate equals five points, and several steps of the MQ give you more fame. I ended one game (including all the MQ) with 101. Note that AFAIK Thieves and DB quests do NOT five fame - but may well give infamy. Each murder (detected or not) gives 1 infamy as far as I can tell, as does each time you are caught stealing.
You need (I believe) a fame of 25 to buy the house in Skingrad, but you need a disposition of 70 from the lady in Chorrol to buy there. Disposition automatically rises with fame and falls with infamy.

Ahh i see although i only had enough money to buy houses after farting around in the arena for half a day and going on a theiving spree or two.
Has anybody with the xbos version found that their loading times have slowed to a crawl?
Money is a weird thing in Oblivion - you struggle like crazy for ages and then you seem to hit a watershed that allows you to pick up REALLY valuable pieces and sell them on (not forgetting to haggle)
I find glass items are the best things to pick up as they weigh next to nothing and are worth a fortune!
I generally stock up when down a dungeon and even revisit to get the good stuff I leave behind to make sure I get my moneys worth

Ah- the imfamous and oft-critised loot leveling. Have you noticed how it leads to bandits asking for 100 gold while they are wearing over 5000-worth of armour?
Once you hit level 20 pretty much every bandit and vampire will be wearing glass or ebony, and money is no longer an issue. In my last game I bought all eight houses, fully fitted all of them, and still had 350,000 in gold left over. Biggest drawback was just carrying the stuff back to sell.

On the last fighters guild mission to save the ors woman i located a campsite with some thugs near the manor. They didnt attack me but i decided to kill them anyway one of them had 800g and the other 5k gold not to mention the armour i sold
Can't see what is wrong with getting the money you've earned. you NEED the money to get certain things and you acquired it fair and square.
Really can't see the justification in criticsing such actions

Xbox loading times.
Yes, my loading times became very long. I had look around for help on this and was told that is is due to the game cache on the hard drive becomeing fragmented.
Holding down a button on the controller (I held down A) right from the start of the game loading process resets the cache and cured the problem for me. By the time the game reaches the loading screens that you can skip, the reset should have happened.
Hope this works for you.

Took off all weapons and armour, had a sleep. Switched off game and rebooted PC and reloaded. Suddenly all was fine again. Maybe also go to church and say a little prayer at the main altar. I think I tried that too (can't remeber too much - it was 2am

Sorted it out now ,had to load a game previous to when i stopped going up ,then reloaded my current game and it was fine

Just had to start mine again. Xbox broke and I lost all my save game data when I sent it back to MS.
Still, second time though I've already found some stuff I missed the first time through

There's a disease called Atral Vapours which is flung by some daedra (and some undead too IIRC) which stops magicka regenerating. Praying at an alter will remove it (as will a potion of cure disease).

I'm stuck on one of the Mage guild quests, I got caught pick pocketing one of them whilst on a quest, had to do some flower picking quest to get back in and now can't seem to finish it, it's as if the quest has rewound a bit and I can't move it forward.
Plenty of other stuff to do.
Not sure what it's called but it's something along the lines of stealing a diary from one of the Mages to play a trick on her. I stole it and gave it to the bloke that wanted it - got thown out of the guild at this point - the quest now says I need to go see this same bloke after 10pm, I do so and he tells me nothing new.
you have to steal the book of spellcraft or something and give it to volrano at 10 and he will reveal jskar. if it has fooked up you can find jskar by yourself he is in the bruma mages living quarters but he is invisible. if you run around until you find the talk button pop up and no one is there you have found him .or get the dispel on others spell and keep casting it.
That's the one. I had the book, got thrown out and now don't have the book, that Volrano thinks I've given it to him and just tells me what a great prank it is. I'll find him manually.
Bloody pain the the **** accidental pickpocketing, it should be a different button to talk. I keep forgetting I'm sneaking.

which quest are you stuck on76 hours on my first character (finished MQ, Arena, Fighters and several miscellaneous quests) and about 68 hours with the current one (finished all by to daedric and arena, and about halfway through Thieves.
My weidest moment (this is a PC version) was fighting a spider daedra in a cave: hit her so hard she went partway into the wall. As she scuttled about trying to get free she got further and further in until she disappeared. Then I saw her shadow on the ceiling! Turned off clipping and went out of the cave and there she was: on the outside of the cave roof. Hit her hard again and this time she went back through the roof into the cave where I finished her off.

On the subject of Mage quests, I've killed Kalthar on the Leyawiin quest and got his key, does anybody know where he lives ?

One of the other mage's I killed had a room in the local inn so I may check this out for Kalthar as well.
Has 3 days elapsed? if not you can use a cure disease potion. Can be a pita being a full vampire, you have to feed or sunlight kills you, you become hideous looking and no shops will serve you.
You do NOT need to wait three days, no matter what the manual and game says. I managed to become a full vampire by sleeping just two game hours after being infected with porphyric haemophilia.
Try being a vampire by all means, but it's not worth the hassle IMHO.
