I'm up to level 4. I'm the grand champion of the arena, a member of the dark brotherhood (they invited me in after I disposed of a group fo five guards that were chasing me!! ), a member of the fighters guild and I can join the thieves guild if I like, but don't fancy it really because I am more suited to beating people's brains in than sneaking around!!!

Not done much of the main quest yet, but I have done some so I will be looking at that later on today. I've also got a fan who follows me around and carries a torch for me when it gets dark!!

 

getting many, many CTDs - any fixes?

Update: I'm now level six, and my fan is dead. He was pi**ing me off so I killed him and stole his money!!!!

 

Im level 14 now, just done the mission where you have to kill your other dark brotherhood members ! (cleansing) ;-) and now i have shadowmere, a dark horse with red eyes as my prize. Was very good killing everyone at the brotherhood ;-) and i am now a personal assasin.

 

Shaolin, was that part of the Dark Brotherhood missions? I've finished with the Mages guild for the time being as I can't get any more quests from them at the mo. Just doing a few side quests before deciding on my next guild. Horse with red eyes might sway it for me

 

Yes, and its very very good ;-) , you are given poisoned apples to help kill the rest of your dark brotherhood and then you can nick there weapons etc ;-)

 

I joined the brotherhood on sunday. Its great fun! I plan to complete the brotherhood and thief's guild before joining another.

If anyone wants some rich pickings then castle display cabinets are very rewarding

 

I'm determined to saty on the path of good(?)!! But I have to admit that I am finding it very difficult. It's just so tempting to go on a slashing mission everywhere!!!!

 

Does anyone know of a quest/place to get a sexy single handed sword or light armour shield?

 

Joining the theifs guild is like robin hood You steal from the rich, you must never kill anyone while on a mission and you give money to the poor when you want information

Alot of the swords/weapons/armour that is available depends on the level of your character.
For instance yesterday i killed a bandit and he had a glass sword (which is pretty good) im level 14 and also have dwarven and elven items.
I think they done this to stop you getting the best swords etc with your character at level 1 (start of the game).

 

Exactly: loot lists are all leveled, as are monster spawns, so you'll only get good gear at higher levels - which is what all the NPCs and monsters will also be at. Hence the Holy War over leveling on the official forums.

for unlimited money (well sort of) go to the imperial city the talos district and find dorians house. when inside kill him. then when you search him he has 82 gold that you can continue to pick up it never stops!!! although his body goes after a couple of days. i have done this and have half a million gold. and you don't get into trouble. just don't steal anything from the house.

W12XTC - Very interesting At the mo I only have 2k to my name so I'm going to find it very hard not to try it. But then again I don't want to use exploits such as these as I would feel I’m cheating.

Also heard another exploit for a get rich quick scam. If you buy a scroll spell (buy most expensive) you can cut the scroll into a 100 of pieces with a bow and arrow. Each piece is worth the same as the original scroll. Full details are on the official forums. Also heard some guy used a firewall in the mix which scattered the pieces all over the place

 

its not cheating that much you can't buy all the training till you have leveled up anyway. same goes for equipment you wont be able to buy the good stuff till you have leveled up. i have used it and i can not see it speeding up the game much at all.

Is this Oblivion anything like Severance: Blade of darkness, but into more deeper detail?

 

If you do the speech thing on him first, and then bribe him as much as poss, he'll have more dosh on him when he snuffs it. I did this exploit as I wanted to buy the house in Skingrad and couldn't be arsed to save up for it. I don't buy items from the shops, just sell the ones I find, so haven't found it has detracted from having a somewhat more loaded purse

I loved blade. I can remember blade being more of a hack'n'slash. If you loved blade though then I am sure you will love this game too. The closest game I have played to this is fable and it beats fable hands down.

Severance was ONLY a hack'n'slash, hence the name. Oblivion is Morrowind with bells on, but a hack'n'slash fighting system to shut up the teenagers on the official forums. And Fable was made specifically as a "Morrowind killer" and failed to even manage that.

Severance was not only hack 'n' slash, but a masterpiece at creating atmosphere, It always made me think that maybe life a few thousand years ago could have been very similar.

I think I'll have to give this Oblivion a try.

I've seen the demo, hack n slash, where's the blood? i've seen countless kills on the demo and no blood, i'd really like to give it ago if it were realistic

 

I do miss the blood to. There is a little bit of spray and sometimes your sword gets a little bit on it.

The annoying thing is that in some of the early videos, when you hit someone with your sword it got coated in blood (as you would expect) but they must have removed allot of it to get the Teen rating in america .

 

It's an RPG, not a hack'n'slash FFS!

Doesnt matter if its RPG, FPS, Racing Game whatever, if you stick a sword in someone they will bleed

 

Actually you can hack the gore setting in the INI I believe, but there's a frame-rate hit (there always is).
