What a cracking day out,
and the weather held out to until now,
there were some great veiws on top of the hills Etc just a shame my camera from flea bay hasnt arrived yet, trust me to get the duff radio (thanks chris)
We do need to get some decent radios as we got split up a few times - but it added to the adventure.
got back - went and seen mother then dashed to B & Q - I can finally have a sit down from an action packed day
big thanks to Dai and Chris for some crazy routes
regards
Justin

Totally agree about the radios situation. I think they are usually sold in pairs so maybe them people without them could pair up and go halfs on the cost of a set.
You should do the 2nd man rule like we use to on the bikes...
You choose a leader for the afternoon, who knows where he is going...lol
Then at every junction where you are turning left or right, the 2nd person in the convoy waits till all the rest of the drivers have past him...Then he re-joins at the back...
So then the 3rd, becomes the 2nd....and so on.......
So i suppose you can then spend the rest of the time trying to get past the slows ones, back up to 2nd place again...
If you are going straight on at a junction, then nobody needs to wait...
Its a good thing to do, as the convoy never stops to wait for the lost....Cause they dont get lost...So your always on the move till you reach your beer or food eating joint....

Shame, we could have used it as a training video "How NOT to Drive"

I thought the general behaviour and driving standards were exemplory by all.
If anyone has any specific issues then please keep them to email or discuss at the next meeting.
And yes, EVERYONE is liable to a reprimand should their driving fall below the required SMACS standard.

I hope you are both joking, but as I don't see any smilies in Dr.P's post, I presume your not?
Ok, to answer the critisism of my driving, I fortunatly DID have the camera on Paul. So you can see for yourselves.
First, before you watch it, consider this:
1/ we were out for a DRIVE, in high powered souped up supercar beating scoobys. Dr.P, you pride yourself on the fact that your car has 5bhp (on the rr in feb) more than me, yet you drove along the snake pass like an old granny! WHY? There were numerous places you could have overtaken along that road, but you didn't take a single one, were you leading us all home? NO. I stated in the pub, last one home is a wuss, tongue firmly in cheek, but my intention was to make it clear we should drive home briskly. Maybe I need to spell it out clearer on future drives.
2/ I know the snake pass like the back of my hand. Where to overtake, where to hang back, where to take it easy. On a busy sunday dinnertime, the chances to overtake are few and far between, and are to be taken quickly if one arises. Hesitation is not an option if you want to crack on.
3/ gillp95, where were you? Did you see my so called "corner overtake"? The video evidence shows me overtaking before the corner, and back on my side before the corner, so why are you jumping on the bandwagon?
4/ chief, I had no "red mist" and can be heard coughing and sniffing in boredom at the pace we were going most of the way along the pass
5/ The next time we go for a drive, the only time you don't overtake everything you can, when you can, is when you are leading, and everyone else is miles behind you. That way, you lose everyone as soon as you turn off the road, as we did with justin, martin and paul. At all other times, if you can overtake someone safely and quickly, then do so.
I'm the most careful driver in the club, and as well as owning a fire breathing, porche beating scooby, have actually taken some driving tuition since getting into seriously fast cars. Who else has? The saying "POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL" applies very strongly to what we do, and I for one take my responsibilities very seriously behind the wheel. I will not sit in traffic though, like some old dear on a sunday church run, with 6 other scoobys around me doing the same!
Hope that answers your accusation.

I bet he turned the camera off on his way back.

As far as i'm aware overtaking on a bend is not illegal as long as if there are no double lines or a blind bend, i used to do it all the time up teh Cat and Fiddle Chris on my Bike.
BTW Chris dont let the slow brigade wind you up - you were just making steady progress

Chris,
My comments were merely a joke
. And I wasn't that far back, dont you remember who it was that pulled out behind you from the pub car park
. You stopped to let me out but I waved you on first. So from where I was I watched you overtake at least 6 or 8 cars
. I could see right up to that black impreza with the gold wheels. And everytime you overtook someone, the other side of the road was clear for ages. So I didnt see a problem with your antics
. Each to their own
.
p.s. Blimey, wish I had kept my mouth shut now...........

p.p.s Not EVERY scooby driver is in such a rush
. I for one am in no rush to loose my license. (Not aimed at Cw42 or anyone else in particular, just my personal view) Getting from point A to point B quicker than joe bloggs is not going to earn me any medals or anything else like that. Each to their own.................
Thats why I bought a wagon, so that I can drive like it has a boot full of shopping and kids on the back seat. Also, I can jump on any bandwagons that come my way. Sportswagon - bandwagon, all the same to me..........

I understand what your saying about pace, but do you agree that we were out for a drive yesterday, not sight seeing? Your post would also suggest that I was travelling at license losing speeds, ie: over 100, this is clearly not the case, and I would appreciate your retraction of that comment. I'm also not out to earn any medals, merely to enjoy my car, and the cars around me in the group, in a safe and friendly way. Maybe we need a section for wagons at the back, although I'm sure Lord bass, who kept up no problems, wouldn't want to be in it

I will bring a couple of foam cricket bats with me for the April meet - you all sound like a bunch of bickering old women it’s shame there isn’t a handbag smiley
Agree with Dr p those roads are also new to me so theres no point pushing it and end up smashing the car up - you go at a speed that suits your driving ability (think id better by a panda
)
To be fair I didn’t see anyone step out of line as regards to speed limits/overtaking dangerously - but then again I was at the back
Ps that duff radio also slowed me down
Regards
Justin
