Seeing as everyone else has added their thoughts I might as well put mine up too.

This was my first drive out with you guys where it wasnt A) dark and B) snowing. I like to use the power* of my car to make progress too (when safe to do so of course) but on my first proper run I had no idea what the protocol was. I didn't want to offend anyone else by overtaking them. I also didnt want to overtake a non Scooby and then get a ticking off. There were opportunities on the Snake where I would have done the same as the vid but i was aware of a comment mentioned earlier about an overtaking manoeuvre between Bamford and Hathersage so I stayed.

Now I know where things stand I'll be happy to make progress if safe to do so.

I'm looking forward to the next one - lets hope it's not too far off!!

* = Yes, I know mine is standard and way down on you lot!!

Funny enough they put a new spring thing on mine in the last service - Prosport said they always fall off - no idea on what it does though, I think it must make gear changes a bit smoother.

what brakes did you get or did you just get new pads?

Thanks gillp95

Chief, the accident super is refering to was in my old car back in October.

Dr.P, use some smileys in future if you are being funny. The only one you did use in your post implied my actions were cuckoo!

Justin, foam bats sound like a great idea. A panda may be out of your league mate That duff radio has just been retired, may it rest in peace You need a 2 way radio, thats about it really. You can buy really expensive ones, but not worth it. Just get something cheap that will work.

Dr.p. I'm not wearing Kickers! Usually my driving boots when I'm in the car And stop going on about the power you've got, cause you aint using it properly

Lee, I've also had a spring replaced in my old car, made the gearchange harder! Maybe Prosport have a job lot they're trying to get rid of

Andy, agree, but Dr.P's and Gillp95's comments potentially would've done more damage if left unanswered, so I answered them

If anything, sundays run out was as much a little drive out as a test of what our group is capable of. Like Paulthejambo says, know he knows the score, he will drive accordingly next time, and glad to hear your chomping at the bit for the next one. As I mentioned in my response, I expect us to get a move on when on these runs out. Sunday driving is reserved for larger convoys, nbo, bbo, ect, where driving in a large group means driving well below the speed limit. If we're a small group, we can motor on.

Hope this hasn't put anyone off sampling our drives out, I'll sort out another later on for next month,

See you all soon,

chris.

Very good video with some well placed comments in light of the subject matter of overtaking- i would have taken the escort at the same time though . On a serious note there was good advance driving technique chris, i hope that less preceptive/experienced drivers learn from the video and future SMACS runs to read the road - it is safe to overtake on corners so long as you LOOK AHEAD and do a risk assessment - make progress. Look forward to coming along to the next run. Although i would be highly likley to misbehave on the cat and fiddle

Wanadoo have been messing about with my broadband so its up and down like a yo -yo at least its trying to run at 4mb now shame my line wont accept 8mb

Your right justin, the choice is vast! I got some argos specials about 2 years ago, supposedly paid for out of club funds, but I ended up paying myself
Ours are supposed to have a 3 mile range, but sometimes barely manage 1 mile in forests or hilly country. 8 channel ones are ok, as we usually stick to either ch 1 or 3.

I think we should take this out of club funds, its not right that one person should buy them i.e Chris – unless he’s got loads of money - at the end of the day I am sure those people who are going on the runs quite frequently wouldn’t mind chipping in to get a set, or even each person buy there own what ever works out the cheapest.

Some of the units have an hands free option, but mind you, - you would probably hear people fart etc not sure how that works - maybe the chief can throw a few recommendations into the pot.

Regards

Justin

I won my radio from MotorCycle News website years ago .... Even came with a helmet adapter (extended microphone and ear piece).

Carl, get some prices. It might be worth while you sorting out some kind of group buy

The radios currently used were purchased by Chris himself, I also bought some.

It may make sence for groups of four to contribute into one purchase and share the cost.

There is no concept of a club fund, and will not be one for a long time.
