I've spent about £1000 on a front mount, filter and exhaust for mine, and it runs low 12s. If I spent £60K on it it would be leaving Mr Cowie behind

i think you all need a reality check, its amazing the amount of new mambers on SN over a few silly posts.....

As i said in one of my later post, i posted in this a real experience, i aint got a clue what his car was running, with the top mount IC still one, i would have thought his big claims were somewhat on the imaginative side, but thats beside the point....

I do think one of my last posts said that i was in the mood for winding people up which is exactly what i have achieved...

Marcy555, i dont know how you dare, i have read some of your posts, total drivel like my posts in this thread.... i think you need to get out more if you and all of the other muppets feel the need to lay down personal insults at myself.....

but, its making interesting reading, and i will say it again, carry on boys lol

If a scooby isnt fast, then niether is a pulsar mate. A few hundredth of a second and u folk make out like the car is sooo much faster. In standard form there is nothing in it. If i wanted to beat a pulsar i would just borrow my bro's 2L16v Nova, yes NOVA!!
Unlike what some folk say, the pulsar will also most likely brake after a few runs up the 1/4 mile as the do have shawdy drivetrains. FACT.

im not upset i just feel sorry for narrow minded people who have never driven a r and put it down because they have nothing eles to do, the fact is what i dont think u understand is if both cars have the same power the r will win so there not crap and not slow, and for people saying about the gearboxes go all the time, id preffure my gearbox to blow than my big end bearings f**k up as scoobys do, both cars are of a different class (hot hatch & sports saloon) and should both be respected in there own ways the main thing i dont like about scoobys is that there so common how often do u see a r and not many people even know what they are.

U make a few good points there, but what i would say is that u shouldnt let the fact the impreza has become more common put u off owning one. Its a bit like my Bro's Nova, its only ever tagged as a "chav this, max power that" but the fact is its the complete opposite. He is the furthest thing possible from a chav and the car has no bodykit and has been built from a car enthusiast point of view, but it will still get slagged, u just smile and ignore it.

who cares mate,

what kind of power are we talking about, BHP pub talk, torque or bhp per ton, fact is, your caught in a pointless **** take, your not the first, and you wont be the last....

As for people having not driven an "R" as you put it, being narrow minded, what a stupid ridiculous comment....

I drive my cars and dont tend to give them an easy life, so a warranty is all that will do, manufactures if i can get it like i have now. If you could get a new GTIR, then i may consider it, but IMO, its to ugly and no warranty, therefor for that reason, i will never own one. i cant be arsed with tuning cars either, they stay pretty much in "out of the box format"

So, you go have your fun, continue to post ****e like myself, or stop, the choice is yours lol

jesus, i dont even know what im writing anymore lol

Well, i will look forward to reading the next instalment of posts tomorrow evening.....

Later kids

And what is your brothers Nova capable of in the timing/speed stakes?

I've been draggind my Pulsar for over 3 years and only managed to burn out the standard clutch 4 months ago.The rest of the drivetrain is 100% standard. Nothing shawdy there, FACT!

i only signed up for a laugh  if its ****posting you want how bout this old favourite....

why do they call a scooby a clitoris?.... lol. thats a joke btw

i do feel that i should point out that being 24 and calling another member 'little boy' does not make you mature and revealing that your not interested in tuned cars leaves you very much in a minority. whats a warrenty btw?

we all love our cars and thats what matters, i dont care if you dislike the look of the R and tbh i feel the same about subaru' s. each to their own i say.

to answer Darrens original question id say yes you' d need a good 60bhp more to keep up in your scooby.

stu

This is just turning into a pointless my cars better than your car argument now I only bothered replying because i registered on here ages ago, but going back to the original question hopefully you'll realise now that a Gti-R with 300 bhp can do some very quick times

Weight wise, they are on the same levels, the old UK Scoob is 1235kg and 1220kg for the Pulsar (or 1190kg RB), so there isn't much difference when you compare those two....I know that Pulsar weight is fully loaded with A/C, electric mirrors etc etc.

Don't believe either the Evo Mag or Autocar weight and performance figures for the Pulsar (eg 60 in 6.1!) which were for the sunny uk version, (same car) but it was a duff press car (with heat soak!). Search the net and you'll see completely different figures in other tests.

But, I think where the difference is the ability to tune the car that you have to start off with and its weight, what I mean is that most high powered old scoobs are Sti's (not the UK versions) so the start weight is closer to 1260-1270kg if Type R/RA and closer to 1300kg if a normal STi. If your going to modify a scoob to well over 300bhp, I doubt it you'll choose a non-sti scoob. When you take out the a/c from the pulsar, its already under 1200kg, before you start replacing/ditching other items. Its not diffcult to get down to 1150kg on a high power Pulsar and still use it as an everday car.

Both cars are/were decent in their day, the difference is in the development the manufacturer put into the Scoob over the years, and the amount that were made.

It surprises me that so many people still don't know what the Pulsar is, I mean I work in the fleet industry with car boffins but 99% think I'm having a laugh when I say the car has its standard bodykit and was sold with 220bhp. Except for places like Santapod, its still a very unique and rare unknown car.

It has its own character, the same way the Scoob does.

What makes me laugh about you fella is the fact that you must know f*ck all about tuning motors, Seeing as in your own word you buy them from the show room and keep them that way .

Most of the people in this thread have acted like grown ups apart from you of cause, You seem to go out of your way to wind people up for no good reason it seems. I don't know maybe your mother didn't give you enough cuddles when you where young or something.

Back to the cars both the scoobie and the pulsar are great cars in my opinion if I didn't have a pulsar them maybe I'd of bought one myself, In fact I went out to buy myself a wagon a few years ago but fell in love with the skyline on the forecourt and bought that instead .

I've been up against Scoobies on the track and the 1/4 mile and have lost out to a couple on the track, But over the 1/4 mile its a different matter all together .

So can we leave it at both cars a good at what they do, And both would be beaten by a good evo or skyline lol.

Well if you have read the thread, you will in fact realise(unless your not intellegent enough) that it was someone haveing a pop at me, which is why the fun began.

And as for tuning cars, i have had my time playing with engines, i had a highly modded 306 rallye for a few years which i did from scratch. To say that i dont mod them anymore is a fact, the car had enough power as standard with the PPP on it so it stayed that way. For me to go further and throw away a warranty on a £21,000 car would be stupid, unless i could afford to, which i cant, unlike some people who can or are prepared to take that risk.

Each to there own, clearly im not a fan of GTIR's, i can respect the time effort and money gone into tuning one, but thats about as far as it goes. im entiteled to my oppinion like anyone else.

As you came on a subaru forum shouting the odds, A, i cant see the point, and B, whos the one going looking for arguments??? Because thats really mature isnt it.

You dont like it, tough, sod off back to where you came from, as until i get banned for my oppinions (unlikley) im going to continue to post them...

John
