personally I would go with the fury, it is a stunning machine, I am still unsure myself, it will be this weekend when I get mine, then I can do a test ride upto rivington. There are a load of trails around marple area as well, and apparently rixton claypits has some good rides as well.

I checked halfords and I think the nearest store to me that had it was either st helens or blackburn

i know what you mean but its £580 and i might end up using it 5 times and it sits in the shead for another 5 years

im so tempted for this orange one is was a £1000 bike in aug 09 has decent components and if its up for 350 then i might just get it could always sell later on

any sites about that show trail routes?

see what you mean if you are only going to use it occasionally. The fury 09 model though has held its price and may not depreciate too much as it appears it is that good.

Just google for routes, heres the marple one though

http://www.romanlakes.co.uk/mountain_bikingpage.htm

loads of routes on that one.

Luckily as I work in Leeds there are routes around there I can go on as well, shropshire or staffs seems to have good trails as well as wales

nice bike mate, bit of a tip though, your quick release clamps, make sure they point backwards so you dont catch them accidently and therefore 'release' your wheel. Fella in the shop told me that as he had heard a few horror stories

ive got a few apps (not used them yet) got a bike computer that can tell me most stuff as well, could do with a cradle for my mobile though so I can use some gps apps. Off to delamere forest in a few weeks with mine. Still not been out on it yet though, dropped 20kg on my big toe a few days back, currently it is purple, swollen (dont get excited ste) and the nail has gone a cloudy black.

Got all my stuff now though and its setup (gears work smoothly) and the remote lockout for the front suspension is good.

What time did he do 60 miles in?

yes ive also got an app, not used it yet though. i have a all singing all dancing computer though so that tells me all i need to know, what does interest me is the elevation side of things as i can take two routes to work and both are fairly hilly so id be interested to know how hilly it actually is.

Jay, Chris has a Specialized like mine but not as good haha. Id love to have the time to go out and do 60 miles, just dont though and if i did i think the wife would find something else for me to do haha

just taken my bike to get my pedals changed, im sick of the 'look' pedals as the shoes are no good for walking in, getting spd's fitted now and you can walk in those shoes, also getting a shorter stem and a little service done on it

to be honest mate i dont know the cost, he is a good local guy who knows his bikes very well, he will adjust all brakes and gears and give the cogs a good clean down, check all the tyres and repair the puncture i went in with haha. Nike always comes away feeling much better, i asked about getting some higher gears but he said the cost far outweighs the benifits as the speeds im hitting at times are fast enough for on the road haha

Good lights are a must mate. I've got cat eye ones front and rear and the one on the rear is two strips of LEDs. They are unbeivably bright which is a good thing really as this is what makes you visible.

Justin how have you been knocked off? Where you on the road?

I looked at that cateye youve got and only bad thing said about is the bracket is dodgy so I went for the blackburn 4 - its blinding I will keep that on and have my Knogs flashing

my P7 front light hasnt come yet its been shipped will take a pic or something once I get it

Both been on a road one going down hill market street in hyde a car decided to overtake me and wipe me out as he wanted to turn left that was daytime

the other time was in duki on a mini rounderbout I had twin halogen front lights and still got knocked off - it was only slow though thank god

I bought a weeride for the bike as Im not keen on the rear child seats the little one loves it
