Danes upset Islam bigtime
I haven’t heard of anyone from the UK Muslim Council condemning the 'demo'. They seem awfully quite considering the damage this will do UK Muslims as a whole. I did see quite a few clips of someone from the aforementioned body blathering on (talking crap) for ten minutes about how the cartoons were completely OTT though.
So the Danes have alledgedly apologised for the pictures. Koffee Annan says his Muslim brothers should accept the apology and draw a line under it. No word from him regarding the extreme behaviour by the protesters or that they should apologise.
The Danes should have said nothing I'm afraid.
This is definitely escalating and the people that will suffer the most indirectly will be Muslims living in the UK and Europe.

The usual deafening silence from those in positions of authority in the Muslim religion, then?
Quick enough to whine when they think WE'RE in the wrong though
So what's new?

I take it back. There is now condemnation from the UK Muslim Council via Asghar Bukhari. And about time too. Why they waited this long, who knows. Root the scum out, and soon.

Did you know that the UK government was one of only THREE in the whole EC that DIDN'T put any restrictions on the amount, or type of immigrants coming in from Eastern Europe?
No surprise there, then, the cowardly *******s!

I have closed the other thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=489682 to try and get discussion confined to one area as opposed to all over the place.
So far I think that a very important piece is being missed by all but a few people who have been trying to point this out in vain.
The issues caused are being caused by a minority section and overall are condemned by those who are true to Islaam faith. I do not believe that those extremist can wholeheartedly claim they are doing this in the name of Islaam as many have emphasised that Islaam is a peaceful religion.
My experiences of Islaam, if you take away the media hype is that muslims can live side by side with people of other religious persuasions as long as respect is shown on both sides.
I make reference to BOB'5 post http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showpost....8&postcount=58 which is well put.
We are fed by the media which is just concentrating on the bad aspects of Islaam, it doesn't focus on what true muslims think because in my opinion, the media is too busy hyping up the extremist activities in order to create a hatred towards muslims.
Neither Western countries nor Middle Eastern countries have rosey backgrounds nor really have any right to have a holier than thou stance (not mentioning any particular countries names
) and I agree that something needs to be done to resolve this before it gets too far out of control.
However, slamming muslims in general and tarring them with the same brush is NOT right and I sympathise for those who are wrongly affected by this.
Most of us are descended from immigrants, there are very few countries who have true indigenous citizens. today's society is of a multi-cultural status which is not a problem until you get the extremists on all sides crying out that this is wrong and that is wrong.
A solution needs to be developed by all sides involved together.
I know that if I was in a certain country and another country kept bombing it in order to throw it's weight around and claim it was doing it for peace then I might get a bit narked off after a while.
Discussion in this thread on an overall level is fine and it is great to hear from users such as AsIf (I have a funny feeling my friend Aaquil may make an appearance to give his balanced and repsectful view on things
). Do not spoil it by making rash comments, think before you post.

*thinking hard*
My opinion, on this issue, has been expressed by others, quite well.
Let the Moderates condemn the radicals.
There is a great fear, in the Islamic community, against those radicals.
The smallest word of censure can bring about a death sentence, to the speaker and/or his family.
Until they make a stand, against "their own" there will be no peace.
The radicals will continue with their terroristic activities.
This has become a world wide war, on the part of the "Radical Muslims" to the point, where they are alienating themselves from all Civilized Societies.
*I will not define Civilized Society, I will leave that to whomever.*
The "radical" activities have went WAY over the top.
Tarring all of Islam with the same brush is brought about by their own lack of condemnation of their radical faction.

Little Miss WRX: I have always respected you, as a moderator, that is, until now. I cannot see why you needed to close the other thread, nor do I see it as YOUR place to preach to others as to what they need to think, or not think, in order to justify so doing.
Pretty good.............and those muslims doing it to us? The death threats? The beheading threats? The real level of "integration" shown by, and preached by the MAJORITY of muslims?
You are simply doing what the UK governemnt is doing.Ever heard of Nero? And I don't mean the CD burning software

I notice my comment from last night was removed. This country amazes me it appears if you are a minority you have total freedon of speach, if you are the majority you have to keep quiet for fear of upsetting someone......
exactly ***** to whatever anybody thinks. That is how those nutcases put their point across, they didnt care that they were not representing the muslim faith as a whole.
so davyboy, get your point across again, dosent matter we agree with you, it is freedom of speech.
oh and mods, there were many valid points on the other thread that had not been covered or discussed in the same manner as this thread.
in fact although there was a common link between the two, both threads were digressing into interesting discussions.
so why combine them into 1...run out of disk space on the server???

More accurately, it is a blatant, bigotted, propogandists lie.
Would you mind quoting your source and providing a link ?
Quoting statistics like that without a source makes you as bad as the bigots that invent the numbers.

I can quote what I like DocJock, if you dont like it I guess you can stretch your pants over your head

Are ''behead them'' or ''Kill them'' placs ok then? In my mind they most certainly are not.

I've had to cut 'n paste this from the closed thread, this was a comment by VAVAVOOM.
"KIWIGTI...I think your comment here is full of sh*t...tell me before the USA made a move on IRAQ had anyone heard of a suicide bomber?"
Actually yes I had. About 15 of them crashed 2 planes full of passengers into the World Trade Centre in New York. Do YOU remember that?

We always hear how these fairly frequent violent actions by muslims are by a tiny minority, and not the views of the majority, but how often do you hear the actions of muslims terrorists condemed by others? Very rarely. About the best you'll get is a half-hearted condemnation followed by how they were "forced to do it by the actions of Americans etc"

Can you really seperate the extremes from the "moderates"? I'd like to say yes, but honestly doubt it.
One things for CERTAIN, we can look forward to an ever increasing number of Islamic terrorist attacks across Europe

My interpretation (and I understand that this is not everyone elses) is that the media are trying to make us think that it is the majority of muslims. I guess the only way to actually find out is to poll every single muslim in existence to get a true and accurate count/percentage.....
(edited to answer Pete's)
Pete,
It worries me that you see my post as one of the BBC!!!! I certainly don't like the way the BBC come across! No worry about causing me offence though, I have thick skin and no longer take things as personally as I used to.

I would just like to think that maybe, just maybe, one day, we can learn to be tolerant on all sides of the globe.
I guess I had better get back to my hippy tent now.

Just a quick note again to say that I won't be able to respond (if there is any need to respond) until tomorrow night (morning your time) so forgive me if I seem a little slow, but that is the reason why!!!

I think I've always been saying on here what you said earlier about brushes etc. but we also need to be objective: in the 70 (!) or so threads on a bbs I very frequently visit, all objectivity seems to have gone down the drain.
As a friend of mine (muslim) put it: "this is bloody Rushdie all over again. We muslims seem intend of making total ****** out of ourselves. We protest against stuff we haven't even seen.".
So asking for balanced views: agreed. Saying that we are talking about a minority is simply wrong.
The people that are involved in publishing the offending cartoons have done wrong.
A majority of the Islamic world has done wrong by blaming the entire countries in which the papers were published.
The protest in london was out out order, it was carried out by a bunch of lost youngsters and long bearded idiots that know absoloutly nothing about their own religion

I did comment in an earlier post that the art of "tact" seems to have been lost.
What was the reason I wonder for publishing those cartoons which are so offensive to the Muslims? Was it really necessary in the great World order or was it done deliberately to stir up trouble because the Muslims feel that The Prohphet Muhammed has been insulted. Those who published the cartoons should be castigated for such an irresponsible act.
Of course we must defend our right to free speech, but we must never forget that there is also such a thing as responsibility and to insult the Muslim religion for no good reason is such a mindbendingly stupid thing to do that those responsible should be given their marching orders immediately!
What this has done is to give a heaven sent excuse to the Muslim militants to hold their extreme demonstrations and to give out the threatening messages as they have done.
At the same time that will have given them the opportunity to influence the younger members of the religion and to possibly join their evil cause as suicide bombers. What on earth can anyone say to justify upsetting an entire religious community in such a way? This is not the way to use our right to free speech and it is a sure way to help us to lose that in the future.
I have said often enough that it is only a militant faction which wants to carry out such atrocities for their own ends. Nothing to do with the basic teachings of the religion concerned.
If you want to see how a moderate Muslim thinks then I recommend that you read AsifScoob's first post on this thread and to do so with an open mind.
Free speech is one thing, but it must be used with tact and responsibility to avoid worsening a situation.
