Danes upset Islam bigtime
If the peaceful, tolerant & fed up majority on all sides actually stood up to be counted it would send a far stronger message to the Govt and extremists on all sides.
Where the so called minority of extremist muslims can threaten to maim, kill and overturn everything I love and believe in then surely I have a right to stand outside Westminster or wherever and peacefully protest against this view as do the 1000's of others who probably feel the same.
Then again the anti-war march shows how much the Govt listen to mass protest and the fox hunting protest reaction show how much the police tolerate provacation from certain elements of society.
I've an uneasy feeling about all of this - but I'm getting sick of feeling bullied :-(

The stupid 'government' in the form of Peter Hain has announced that police are 'studying' pictures taken of the protesters banners with a view to arresting and prosecuting offenders if identified.
But surely they should have been arrested at the time, not allowed to run riot through the streets of London whilst the police looked on.
So what we see is another New Labour exercise in PR and a few choice 'sound bites' delivered to the media to placate a rightly outraged public. But as ever, no action as such. Will any arrests actually be made? and will any prosecutions result? No, because New Labour are too scared of losing the muslim vote. A bunch of spineless lying turds...

On the BBC 10o'clock news yesterday they showed somebody from the UK muslim council who said it was the extremist minority protesting with banners sayind ' Down with the west' and so on.
As I said on the other thread - looking at the varying protests including the one in the UK, the "minority" quote used all the time seems not to be totally correct. This seems a very large minority.
Lets be honest, if the run of the mill person in this country is now starting to get annoyed by all of this then it may be the beginning of a bad time for all.
This Muslim "minority" has done more for BNP than Griffin ever could.

Yeah, nice PC sentiment. Sadly those who are better informed know differently:

So asking for balanced views: agreed. Saying that we are talking about a minority is simply wrong.

On yesterdays 10 o'clock news they didn't even show the peaceful protests
but when the extremist monority are protesting it becomes headline news with pictures and videos.
This is just one example of the media and its biased stories.

In this BBC news story it states:
"Police estimated Friday's crowd at between 500 and 700"
The muslim population is 1.54 million in Ebgland and Wales.
I'd say 500-700 protestors counts as minority, wouldn't you??

It still counts as a minority even if you take into account the protests in the other countries.

"Separate protests held on Saturday passed off peacefully"
So that doesn't count then.
even though we were talking about the extremist protests where they held banners saying 'down with the west' and so on it was a minority.
If you feel you want to include the other protests please do so. It is still a minority

Sad thing about this is that people will die because of a crappy cartoon in a local Danish newspaper, I personally never read the Danish equivalent of the Stockport Advertiser, surprised anyone gives a toss. I think the message is clear, dont antagonise (the more radical) Muslims or you may well create a situation you cant control that culiminates with destruction of property, loss of life and very tense newspaper editors, thank f*ck none of the British press decided to publish, I suspect some came close but investagative journalism is one thing if its Kate Moss, Jade Goody or some other celeb, correct me if I am wrong but I doubt that Jade Goody would be likely to blow up a newspaper office or remove someones head with a bread knife, so maybe it wasnt good sense, more like self preservation.
Not sure where the cartoon above fits into Islams book of acceptable humour, I suspect mis-spelling the prophets name might just get you off the hook. It does worry me this, it being a very lame cartoon, most people would ignore it or complain to points of view, what next, I am not a Muslim, am I disrespecting Islam simply by not being a part of it, I have said on here before that I dont hold with religion, is that a slur to Islam or just me living in democracy and having an opinion ?
Surely anything that resorts to these tactics is onto a loser, no good can come of this, at least what Bush n Blair have been upto keeps petrol in my car.

that just about sums it up for me. Hypocrites doesn't even come close. And as for the banners saying kill those who insult Islam well I think that makes the cartoons not far from the truth then. Burning the embassies just highlights the extreme intollerance of other cultures by Islamic states. Perhaps they should have some of that intolerance rammed back down their throats by the way of International embargos.I like the way the word minority is used all the time. Not if you take a look at certain nations, for example Syria and Lebanon. I don't think you can claim that the protests there were a minority of their Muslim population
The reactions across the world have done nothing but harm the image of Islam and make it look like a religion of violence and death threats, bit like the days of Salman Rushdie and the fatwas against him. Those that protested with such threatening banners over the last few days should have been arrested but because of the so over the top PC culture this country is now falling under they were left to get away with it - pathetic!
