Sounds good - how bout a picture post sign in thread under pictures section...we can stick our last three chassis digits in for the fun of it...

I just need to get mine really dirty first..

Stupid question ... if there are 300 WRX300s, why do we have a 2 digit registry?

I can probably be held responsible for that - I was just 'sounding out an idea' and wasn't sure if people would be willing to put the last three chassis no's up so I made it more mysterious with just two - you are right it was... but the logic seemed reasonable at the time...

Flynn, I made some enquiries with my dealer today about if there is anyway of telling what number our cars are. He thought it was written on the Prodrive Certificate which it certainly isn't on mine. I think it was written on there for the UK300 MY01 limited edition. Anyway, he's (hopefully) going to get in touch with Subaru to find out. I'll chase him tomorrow.

Nice one...seems like a daft oversight doesn't it after going to the trouble of badging them up as 300's...

As you say the prodrive cert looks fairly standard...

Mine is going into the dealer tomorrow for its 1000 mile service so I too will ask the question. That way we can see if the answers tally up or not.

My dealer Sparshatts in Soton went through a good intro to the car. Certificate should be in the document pack or the glove box. Without it you will have a hard time selling and also if you ever need to make a claim on insurance or warrantee.

As for the two figues I guess it was coincidence that the starter was sub 100. If you really want to see what number it is then it was (bear with me please) written in wax crayon on the rear screen. Unless you have scrubbed the hell out of the glass, give it a clean and when you wipe it you can still see the number. I guess they were all made within a few hours of each other in one run.

888 get on the phone tomorrow and ask to speak to the Customer Service manager to advise them of the situation. Don't go for the jugular. Give the local dealer the opportunity to put it right. Just make them aware and I bet that in the back ground things will be sorted.
If they are not go back to the UK customer service manager. Then if they are really not helping speak to

OK was a bit dubious but what th hell I'm in a good mood.

Went out with a torch... nothing !
Thought a bit about it, then saw a water sprayer on the shelf in the garage, so filled it up and started spraying a fine mist all over the back windscreen. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G..... something started appearing !!!!!!!!

Eventually I made something out... it wasn't a number... I think it read

"CLE A NME"

Any ideas...?

LOL!

and written in hard to remove wax I bet!!

So you immediately set about a 2 hour midnight wash, wax and polish session - trying not to distrub the neighbours...and I expect at 2:00a.m you'll think 'bugger it, might as well go out for a run in it now I'm up' - you'll only be getting back in by 4:00am and you'll be buzzing with your after-dark driving antics you won't be able to sleep till 5:00a.m...alarm off at 7:30...

2:hr 30 mins sleep but hey it's been a classic WRX300 adventure!

I did - after it'd been installed - sat on my passenger seat when I picked her up - looked at it smiled and started her up to a new and lovely deep 'Brooumblle' noise.

It's Got your reg and your chassis no on it. You definately want one for authentic provenance...

All went well, motor is in next week (for a week). The sales manager (get this) has never done any PPP mods to either the 300 or the PPP upgrade to the STI!!!!...he is busy contacting owners who purchased post 05/05...there is quite a few. I got a good deal (freebies and servicing etc.), they couldn't be anymore apologetic and were extremely "red faced".

Thanks again all you 300 owners!

Oh yeah...has anyone changed the spec wheels/tyres and what works best (road use)?

Yep....scoobynet has helped me out no end. The DVLA are right, are they not, to list the motor as a WRX Turbo as the WRX 300 isn't a specific model. Isn't it the same as say an LX GLX GLS etc. (other makes) and therefore constitutes a trim or style level? I reckon that's one can of worms that shouldn't be opened.

There were two threads a long time ago, one was 'sale of goods act' and another I started which basically proved that with all the different special editions the V5 very rarely showed the exact model. It was determined that if you could be bothered you could change it, but as there were so many people with just WRX etc, I dont think anyone did.

I did actually ring IM, and they correctly identified my model which was good enough for me....

Mark

....didnt get a reply from my dealer regarding asking if customers wanted PPP!

Just out of interest and changing the subject, how many people have fitted quick shifts? I think the car is undrivable without it.....

When I first got my Turbo 2000 the dealer asked if I wanted it, to which I said 'no', then as soon as I got home I was on the phone booking it for a Q/S and Prodrive back box and have done so on every Scooby I have had since....

Been thinking about the quickshift for a while as the I find the gearbox a bit cluncky and it takes me an age to change gear!

How much will it cost me?

PMSL i know you must think me mad but it really is there on mine. 77 in the top LH corner. Glass cleaner... Oh no men in white coats knocking....

I had the QS fitted before pick up after driving a P1 with one. Love it. Get one. The only thing that scares me to death is the understeer i get on the car. So its off to Powerstation for RARB alloy drop links Anti Lift kit and maybe a set of eibachs on the Wales Dyno day 25th March. The boost gauge and oil temp are being fitted next week from the Auto gauge group buy care of Nick at Auto gauges. Good fitting guides available http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=487267

And it is an insurance recognised model listing. That is why they made 300 so that it would be listed by the companies. Hence the drop downs on web sites such as Admiral. £500 btw.

What about a permanent WRX300 section?
