New Car Project
Need any more measurements David, I can still get at it fairly easily.
Mine is 30mm too far forward... but height looks right (only dim I gave you I think)
Suggest cutting out and reattaching of the two vertical bars in the centre of the car (that bolt to the tunnel) as well as the steering column support, as the dash seems to require a bit more support in that area. Other than that mine is all together.

I suspect David is a bit like me, the building of the car is the challenge. Once its built then comes the boring bit..... driving it !
If David enjoyed driving his scoobs more than building them then the Silver car would be finished and touring a track near you

My car is finished now and I'm bored with it already, hasn't even been out yet !

Prefer circuit racing, at least after a few laps you get the gist of where the track goes and the lap times start to fall. Used to do sprints and hills but with my crap short term memory (call it an age thing
) each run was like the first time

Andy has it spot on!
I really want to build a car from scratch, and I pushing myself closer and closer to doing that
Scoobs really dont do it for me anymore..
Now a 4wd justy turbo is still tempting.
Graham, Isnt there a point when you mod the car beyond a certain point, you get put in a class you 'cant' win with hill climbing?

Got to agree, with what Andy says. I see exactly that in David, and i also think i am the same. Its the build thats the fun, dont get me wrong i do enjoy driving the car, but its the challenge of building it for me, and mine is in nowhere near the same scale of David's let alone Andy's!
Justy 4wd, hell yeah, we now have the space to do it.

That 'moment' arrives in all competition.
If my Sti was 600 bhp and on slicks etc I bet I wouldn't be that much quicker as my nerve is about at max now.
I have scratch built 2 cars, well, nearly.
When i was 21 I had built my first street rod (it was the early 70's), loved the bild, loved the pose etc and building the chassis, jag suspension, Capri V6;s etc and the Rover V8's (just the best engine) and then to the 911's.
Building is such a buzz to say the least.
I now find the build is great (hence the stupid threads), and the hillclimbs are a terrific 'social' event which is the reward for the build.
I do not have the time and patience today to 'Do a Wallis' to (any) car, but if you recall my sketch of your Wagon David, that would be such a great project to me (about 15 years ago!)
I am very close to taking 2007 off and doing the car in a hill climb minimalist way (ie 6 point cage welded-in etc, not multi), but i also fancy supercharging my old 911, a G50 gearbox, 968 brakes and slicks, just so easy on a 911.
I also fancy doing a 2.33 for the oily hands bit too.
Nice to dream, but the build IS the best bit, without hill climbing it would be meaningless, and i would simply get a good 911 and travel instead, but drive in France without silly police men and Rayguns on every corner! Grrrrr.
Time for my tablet...
Graham.

Such fun doing that one!

I had exactly the same when i re-shelled my Mini years ago, i just ended up not driving it, and bolting more and more goodies on it...... sold it in the end to get the Scoob..... i've stopped myself as far as possible doing the same with the scoob, i've just bought a disco to go off roading with, to stop myself spending too much on the scoob for the very limited mileage it now does......
