I got told the same thing when they called me, so rather Pi55ed off I called head office and complained that I didn't want to spend over £400 for 2 ****e games and some old DVDs. The chap explained that a memo was been sent out to ALL Toys R Us stores yesterday saying that any people who left a £10 deposit could just take a premium console for £279 ( deducting the £10 deposit ) and ignore the bundles if they didn't fancy them. I have since called my local Toys r Us, told them I have spoken to head office and I am now just picking up the Premium bundle with a seperate copy of PGR3

Give your local store a call and tell them you don't want the bundle.....

I have rang them today but they still say they do not know how many they are getting.

Are they just covering their backs by not telling anyone incase they receive less than they think?
I ordered mine ages ago and would just like to have a simple yes or no to if I will get Friday or not.

 

Just received my pack from GAME today.... Yeah I know the video stuff has already done the rounds but getting the launch pack with the included DVD and watching the video's of the games again just makes me want Friday to be now!!!

Arn't we all kids when it comes to new gadgets!

BTW.... I was speaking to a guy I know that knows a helleva lot (used to work for a major games software developer) about the technical stuff regarding current cream of the crop PC graphics car spec's and he said the XBOX360 graphics hardware is easily if not better than the current top end PC stuff (and he is a PC fanatic). He also said that the current games are only apparantly using one of the three cores at present, so what it is doing now is no where near what this platform is capable of. He also said where the XBOX360 graphics chipset is so much better than the PC stuff at present, is that the XBOX360 GFX has unified inbuilt matched ram just for the graphics working with the core, which apparantly (with other stuff that he lost me on) enables AA to be enabled at no overhead cost...... don't bother asking or pressing me for "well that dont sound right because of x,y,z" as I was lost half way through the conversation! lol

BUT.... he did say that games like Quake 4 which have been a plain PC port have not carried very well to porting (slowdown), since code requires to be optimized (apparantly) to run at PC comparable speeds with the same levels of detail. I suspect that is what happens when tight deadlines are on the cards for launch.

Same as , nothing from Play, just e-mailed asking if they know how many orders they plan on completing, plus the fact i have 2 games ordered, if i don't get the console i certainly don't want the games, i'll keep you posted.

I was at EA games yesterday and got the chance to speak to a few Quality Assurance games testers and some people in the 'Dev' (development team)

They have been running XBOX 360 games for ages, with the 360's almost permanently switched on with no issues whatsoever of overheating, crashing etc etc. Basically they have been flawless So thats encouraging

I also spent a good hour and a half on FIFA on a Hi-Def T.V and it is superb. The commentary is amazing and you feel like your watching football on T.V. The animations are slick, gameplay is fast and like real football and the players look like the players on T.V.

A proper serious piece of kit, and they said that most of the release games are only at a 1/4 of the potential of the kit

Call of Duty was popular too, but obviously they werent playing that (cough cough)

 

well, i've rang them, but the bloke who's dealing with it isn't in today so looks like i'll have to haggle with them on Friday, at least i've got PGR3 reserved, aslong as they don't expect 50 quid for it

Play are a complete bunch of pri**s . My order changed tyo order placed about 1/2 hour ago and now has reverted back to pre-ordered. I rang and spoke to a useless woman who said I might not get it before xmas.

i'm going to wait the first batch of any games console all ways have a few bugs that the sort by the time the 2nd batch is ready my ps2 i got when i first got that had nothing but problems same with my xbox got one of the first one was in and out of the shop for 2 weeks

Just received the e-mail for COD2, i'm not getting a good feeling about this.
Just e-mailed asking if there will be a console attached, as what will be the point sending me 2 games when they have been unable to supple me with a console.

 

I had one of the very first PS1's, and first PS2's and never had any bother with any of them.

ASDA has around 10 Consoles per BIG store so ....... I'd say but don't quote me on it ....... about 10 people per BIG ASDA will get a 360 without pre-ordering because ASDA don't do Pre-orders, ta da
