Because play frequently have no idea what is going on.
Just another example of their excellent customer service. Just be grateful you've never had to try and return anything to them, or even worse, try to make a claim because an order has never turned up. Happened to me, and I never got my money back (I gave up in the end ).

Also i brought Splinter Cell from them along with aload of other games, the rest arrived but this didn't, rung them up 'Yes it has been posted', as there was a big time gap they sent another, this didn't turn up either, another phone call 'ok we'll send another, luckily this arrived.
I don't think it helps that the address sticker has Play.com on it, anyone in the know we'll be fully aware what could be contained, and the dis-honest ones amoungst the postal service may steal it.

i'd half thought of selling mine on the 24th after i'd had a blast with it for a few weeks, if someone's stupid enough to pay over the odds for one then that's their fault then just get one again in the new year

Getting mine on the 2nd. Going to put an auction on Ebay today with £500 reserve. Not bothered if I have to wait a few weeks to get another.

Anyone willing to pay a fortune for one on eBay needs their head examined (or a life)
Something just doesn't sit right with me about selling them on eBay for a huge profit. Same thing with concert tickets They should have their knackers stuck in a vice

toys r us have just called me, good news is have one bad news is i *have* to buy it in a bundle premium bundles: i have 2 choices, one at 399 with 2 DVDs & 2 games (2 i don't want - king kong & amp3 ) and one at 449 with 3 games (PGR3 is included with that which is the game i want most) & 3 DVDs (dodgeball, swordfish & itailan job )
so i'm stuffed and im going to have to fork out 450 quid for it

...or i buy the cheaper bundle and sell off the games and get PGR3 from somewhere for 30-40 quid, i doubt i'll get 100 quid for 2 games and 2 **** DVDs
oh, and i have to make a decision in the next half hour

the premium console is actually £280
...so make that 120 quid i need to get my money back on, someone's making a killing on these at TRU

so if i buy everything i get bundled with on the £399 package from Play it comes to 93 quid + a console it comes to £373

The problem is people who buy them just to make a profit are themselves exagerating the supply shortage, thus pushing deman up along with prices. It's not quite the same thing as haggling or shopping around for a decent deal IMO.
At the end of the day it's the buyers choice, although some may be pushed into it with kids wanting it as a Xmas pressie.
Argos were doing something similar with their own overly-priced pack that was gauranteed for the 2nd. Robbing barstewards
