If you don't mind me asking how many miles have you done to have your car serviced 5 times in 10 months..?

Also, if your car was previously serviced by this main dealer surely it's details must have been on the system..?

And exactly the same in another thread, in fact your 1st 3 posts have been exactly the same (cut & pasted) over the last 3 days.

Maybe I'm being overly suspicious about the amount of newbies who are commenting on this 'problem'..?

Isnt a European manufacturers warranty 2 years and the third supplied by the importer. So if you got the warranty honored for the first 2 years, why would IM want to do any work in the 3rd year ? I can see why IM are not happy. We all want a nice dealer network to service our cars and do warranty repairs. Funnily enough, that costs money.

Motorpoint come along without this overhead, or costs when a car goes wrong and simply remove this margin.

Sorry to the guys that have bought from Motorpoint, but it would be better if they get stopped from performing their practices. Prices for Scoobies could then stabilise and people would be happier. Remember the biggest cost is not how much you pay for the car, but how much you lose on resale.

Apologies for adding the same thread I tried to add it as a whole new thread as I am new to this site and as you will see twice i got it wrong.

Nethertheless my problem is genuine and I have added my thread to try and help everyone, including myself, who is having a similar problem.

I don't know how wide spread this warranty problem actually is but after having many conversations with Motorpoint over the last couple of days they have given the impression that we are not alone with this probelm.

I do a lot of motorway driving and travelling through my job and so i have currently done just short of 23000. I have followed the service intervals religiously 1000, 3000, 9000,14000 and 19000 i will soon be due my 24000 mile service before Xmas.

I have had it serviced at my subaru dealer and that is a question that i will ask them - Ill see what they say.

you just need to contact malta and advise them you are following only the shaded service intervals!

that'll cut your costs in half!

the 3000 & 14000 services are for maltese, dusty & short journey conditions

Can you clarify the situation re May 1st? My car came into the country after my order November 2004 and I took delivery in Jan 2005, due to an admin error at IM my car wasn't put on the system when I sent all the paperwork in in Jan/Feb but IM are now refusing to honer warranty work but won't put it in writing!

The following is an extract from the http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/ web site

strikes me someone is going to have to take a supplier or IM to court

to resolve this one!

What legal protection do I get with warranties and guarantees?

As both are contracts, warranties and guarantees give you the right to make a legal claim against the person issuing them (guarantees are contracts because the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002 say that they are). This means that if the manufacturer refuses to honour the warranty or guarantee, you can take them to court to force them to meet their promises. For example, if the company that issued the warranty will not carry out a repair within a reasonable time when the guarantee says it will, you could sue for the cost of employing someone else to put the problem right. You need to follow certain procedures before you do this, see 'Services - how to solve your problems' leaflet. However, it is important to remember that both warranties and guarantees are in addition to your statutory rights under either the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) or the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (as amended). If you have problems with goods or services, it is best to go back to the company from which you bought them, as the law considers them to be responsible for any problems under their contract with you. See our leaflets on 'Buying goods' and 'Buying services' for more information on your rights under contract law.

if yours was imported FOR you, then you should get your warranty.

the problem comes if you bought it pre-reg, or otherwise from stock.

personal imports + personal imports using an agent should be fine

.....and it strikes me that maybe the folks who sold the cars should be pursuing just that. Hope they don't let their customers down.
