So??

In conclusion ...... having a VTA Dump Valve will:-

1. Make you look like a right ****

and,

2. Destroy your engine

Sorted ......... lets all go out and buy one!!

Bob is starting a new trend, he is promoting gear box whining sounds now

(I could hear the box at the other end of the strip on Sunday, LOL)

I know the reasons against VTA valves, but I love the sound of the HKS SSQV, which is why I have one (not to pander to anyone elses whims, but my own) - think of me what you like, I will not lose any sleep over it!

This ALWAYS seems such a heated debate, if numpties like me wish to fit 'em (regardless of the 'it'll **** your engine claims) then let us, and if other people don't like 'em, then don't worry about it!

FFS, people on here always seem so interested in arguing, I think sometimes it would be nice to go back to "the old days", when there weren't so many people ready to argue, and there was a real "community" atmosphere and not the numerous civil wars we currently get!

Oh - sorry I have one of them Chocolate engined 5 Type R's which has been going strong for 45k miles (25k with VTA), and is still going strong on original engine!

Fair enough. If you like it, it works OK so far, hasn't done any apparent damage, then why not?

I, personally don't think owt of you, either way. It's your car.

The original poster asked why people frown on them, was told, and then argued, as did others. <<Shrugs>>

People, including me, will always argue the toss. Posts like "They're cool as fu ck, get one" tend to get up my nose a bit, that's all.

i like the noise VTA's since my RST days. Personally i have had a bailey on my 04 sti, i change it as and when i feel like a change and im getting quite good at sticking the recirculating bit of the valve back down the pipe. Can do it in ten minutes now those of you who have tried it know what im talking about

i notice a slight difference between VTA and OE but i think thats more a placebo. Need to get it monitored over a period of time with some sense of science to it and put this 'type' of thread to sleep forever

I agree with what you are saying mate, I have been in a few arguments on here, but when they are the same old thing it gets a bit tired!

I agree the post you highlight is "off the mark", and that the gathered knowledge of the site is mahooosive and indespensible!! Didn't mean to single anyone out either!

Seems to me that the site has just become very antagonistic (I may have even been guilty of this in the past - and probably will in the future, but I would hope over things not as trivial as VTA's - chav or not!)

Of course its the same old thing ........ you have been around here longer than I have - difference being I know (and respect) the fact that Newbies who have just 'discovered' Scooby ownership will ask all the same old questions you and I asked 5 years ago - doesn't make their contribution any less valid!

You would like it to be the nice huggie, huggie Forum it was way back when ... well, times have changed, the BBS Membership is huge now and we don't want to talk boring crap about the type of Oil, how to change the Oil and Lambda voltages - cos, its bollox that made a few very sad people feel ever so important!!

it was a sensor in the mid section that was faulty mate, there was or is nothing wrong with the dump valve, To a standard engine, which i was lead to belive yours is not, its no use, i dont know all the tech behind it all but i would say your in a better position than me on that one mate....

As for the sensor again, i removed the DV and all that happed just after it, so it may well be my car, but since what i have been reading since i took it off, it looks like not. I never knew about this MAF thing before it was fitted, or since i sold it. I am lead to belive that the standard map ECU monitors the recirc flow, ??? Yours has been remapped, so i have no idea what it does...

Ayway, glad its working ok, was a pleasure doing biusiness with you...

Sorry about the pm's, probs my fault, i was using a PDAphone which was acting up at the time

You say that as if subaru no best but a lot of people on here think otherwise. For example when it comes to oil changes all the spacialists say crank the car over first with fresh oil which subaru say you dont need to do. My point being that because subaru dont use them doesnt mean they are bad

No problem mate, i knew what i was buying, took it out for a spirited drive yesterday and it drives just like it had a rec D/V , i did wonder about the PM's as they kept coming with the same message, so are you keeping the car now.

yeah, not sure what to do though, was toying with the idea of the 06STI, but selling mine now and saving for a year or so, but since talking to you and adam at the scooby clinic, i think im going to remap mine, possible uprate turbo, injectors, FMIC, im sure you get the idea, the list is endless.

But first things first, i need to sort out the front wheel that i damaged last night, needs a new one as i bumbed up some island that was in the middle of nowhere, something to do with the trams in blackpool and me not watching where i was going.

So, im looking for a WRX wheel if you know where theres one going mate, inc tyre???#

My point being that the **** Oil Change is a myth

Don't care much about dump valves ...... all I know is they can damage your engine??

I read somewhere that you could get the same 'sound' by doing something simple like taking the inlet airbox off .......... not sure if thats true?? You know? The box/plastic pipe that goes into the wing on the induction side??

GENUINE QUESTION!!!

Ive read through countless DV threads and cannot come to a propper conclusion.

I have an 02 sti of which will be remapped soon. I would actually like to fit an HKS SSQ VTA. If fitting a VTA make the car jerky will this be recified by mapping?

Also ive heard that induction kits kill MAF sensors?

Will mapping make these mods safe? or am i better sticking with a green panel filter?

I would much rather the chatter of an induction kit like i had on my cossie but if this is going to screw my MAF then i wont get one. Hence the interest in a HKS VTA as my gearchanges are currently boring to listen to

Please only constructive replys to this, thank you

Really? Is that why there are so many on the market place to buy?

Coming from Pete "can I do my own oil change"?, "My front discs have lasted 60,000 miles, do you think I should change them"?, "Whats a knock link"?

Words of wisdom....
