I was just getting started (warmed up after a frustrating few games) and my Teamspeak connection died and then the link shortly afterwards!

Not fair

^^^^

Yeh, I had a hell of a time with TS last nite - dunno what was happening for me.

Thankfully tho, no CRDs. Only blood-pressure rising issue was Blundy blasting me out of the sky.

He'll pay... boy will he pay...

Other than that - great game - very enjoyable!

I was getting issues with lag, either down to the new n/w card or crappy beta gfx drivers... or windows update or most likely NIS

Anyhow, will be tuning the system to try and sort this out... Noticed my pings were spiking horribly at times....

---------------------------

On to more important things! DAE & Eragon (father n son) are leaving for OZ next week, for good.

These guys have been part of SNAFU from day one, and contributed in various ways to the running of the server and site.

In their honour we are having a special game friday night - most likely normal BF2 maps.

Anyone is welcome - kick off around 8:30-9pm!

It was more than likely Windows update. They released 58 patches across alot of their products yesterday

Yeah, I actually ducked out to run the required high severity patches last night - didn't solve the problem. Disabled NIS auto-protect and auto-update, didn't help.

I'll run some more checks for spyware.... Of it may be that my CPU (X2 4800)isn't up to feeding the GPU (7950 GX2) for 1600x1200 @ HIGH AAx2..... Or the beta drivers for the GPU arent up to the job.. or the beta BIOS to support the GX2 isn't helping... beta beta beta ARRRGHHH!!...

Now you're just *looking* for excuses for when AMD do the drop

Personally, if anything, I would bet it's the beta drivers for the 7950's. But then, having said that, I'm running them as well and i didn't have any lag.

But I will let you know tonite if the 1600x1200 res has any impact on what i normally get. I doubt it though - perhaps you have some other process in the background causing it grief. Norton <hack, spit!> is notorious for having various services running in the background which often decide to check this and that.

Thankfully AVG is, seemingly, far less intrusive.

I can see a little batch file being created which has a few 'net stop' s in it...

Hmmmm.... stop all McAfee services, kick BF2 off and start them again afterwards - should've thought of that sooner....

I can't remember who was asking about this -- but for those of you who have dual core machines and make the effort of alt-tabbing out of BF2 to set the process affinity (which _some_ say you should as it's a single threaded app anywaze), there's a handy freeware tool which lets you set process affinity via command line, which means you can create a *.bat file to invoke it rather than the annoyance of going thru the task manager.

http://www.beyondlogic.org/solutions...rocessutil.htm

You could create a script to start BF2, wait 5-10 seconds and then execute the "affinity" mask.

Top night of gaming lads. Got my Vet Sniper combat badge and got enough points for my Staff Sergeant (although it has not actually given it to me yet). Really enjoyed the games, although I've not been given the teamspeak settings *cough* *cough* so I was not really playing as part of a team really.

Still raked up lots of points and kills

DrEvil, you are on my BF2S worst enemy list!!

Started well last night and then i got a case of creeping doom on my connection... people started killing me with single shots and it got steadily harder to kill anyone. Then just as we finished the SAS/Spetnaz scenario it bombed altogether

I really have to take a chill pill when playing tho'!

I did upset Dave (DV8) again last night... he did think I hadn't seen him and he put loads of shots into me... but he was shooting on the move AND I was lying down, so I took him out before he got me... (I was almost dead tho')

I hope to make it on tonight if I can... be nice to be there for a send off!

Right as you know we're loosing a couple of the original SNAFU members, as father & son are moving to OZ!

So tonight the clan are planning to have an extra game, it starts on Karkland and is basically normal BF2!

Ps. kick off 8:30 -> 9pm ish!
