Tonight is "normal" night? Or are we going Euro?

I've only d/loaded SF which I have yet to install and play!

 

Well I was on there for 20mins last night, no one turned up! pfffft
Puff, tonight is 'normal' BF2 (although I believe the Euro maps are in the rotation?). SF is Thursdays only at the mo.

If you haven't installed it, be aware you'll have to reapply the latest patch again after you've put SF on there.

 

Has anyone got the BF2 box handy?

A mate at work needs to know the graphics card requirements. He is buying a new machine and needs the right card.

Although I'd suggest he can get the very best gfx card he can afford (min 256Mb), and 2Gb ram minimum for the actual PC!

 

Mine works OK on a Radeo 9800 Pro

I have to say, up until a couple of months ago I was happily playing it with a 9800 pro as well.

Now have a X850XT and running at 1280x1024

 

Hmmmm.... so my 7800GT sat on a Athlon 64 x2 4600 (2Gb RAM) would run at what?

 

Try it and see
you may find that 1280x1024 works ok on yours. The FPS does take a hit but I'm happy with the trade off for the quality of the image.

 

Sorry m8, had unexpected visitors last night. I wouldnt have been on the SAFU server anyway as it's never populated unless it's a clan night. I thought we could have had a bit of practice through using the SNAFU TS but on another public server but the inlaws turning up put paid to that

 

BF2 tonight, not including Euro Forces maps or Special Forces expansion.

You should easily be able to run 1280x1024 / HIGH / 2x AA.

Pity my playing wasn't at first - I died 7 times before I managed to start doling it out...

Of course, if certain other SNAFU members hadn't have been so trigger happy with the bombing runs... (I was 1 kill off getting a 10 kill streak and he bloody bombed me )

 

Hey I was happy last night _ I managed to get blunderbus in a couple of dogfights and one ramming

 

I was getting bored of being bombed last night

Still if people get kicks out of doing the same thing over and over and over and over for the entire duration of the map that's up to them

 

I need to get my basic knife, pistol and sniper badges sorted pretty soon - and tips on how the heck you rack up enough kills????

 

You were hiding in a building and I was gatling for an Apache - saw you go in and I just shot the cr@p out of the building as we changed the flag & I killed you.

Now I can do that all map

Must admit I got fed up with Blunderbus last night too... still just means we need to be better with AA!

 

Kieran, basic pistol and basic knife are not easy, I’ve yet to get my basic knife as it will ruin my kill to death ratio as I run around like a headless chicken looking round corners waiting for someone to pass. Use a light weight kit, sniper or medic so you can chase after people, medic also helps to heal your self after you get a few rounds in your at close range.

Wake is a good map as a sniper. Or on a roof on a map like Karkland, just remember to lay your claymores at the top of the ladder to cover you, watch out for commander artillery as well, I love bombing snipers on roof tops

I got Special Forces from the lads at work today for my birthday That's Euro and SF now. Oh to find the time

Thanks Darren - good information there. I know you're going to be right about the basic knife medal, but then my kill/death ratio is appalling anyway, so what the hey!

 

LOL I was holed up in that hut for ages! was trying to defend that flag single handedly at the time
Thought I'd survived till that last round of blasting, funnilly enough I'm sure the rockets weren't getting me, but the gattling gun was doing me harm through the walls?

Unfortunately BB killed me more times when I was on HIS team than when I opposed him

He racked up an impressive score in the end - but did you see his team score?? Last I noticed it was at -25!

Still, just like snipers, you don't go into planes to get mega team scores. Good on him though, the only time I've got over a 100 is when I got a 2x bonus for being the winning commander.
I'm all for people sticking to what they enjoy but BF2 would be pretty boring for me if I only enjoyed one aspect of it.
It's got to the point where I cringe when I see it's a map with planes. Heli's I don't really have a problem with as they move slow enough that you actually get a chance to use AA against them. Likewise with tank bias games, a couple of AT guys working together can take one down pretty easily.

And if it wasn't BB bombing me it was that other guy. Seemed I could not go more that 5 mins witout being blown up.
