MadGrip - we tend to play Tues(BF2), Thurs(BF2 SF) and Sundays(BF2)
Rest of the week it's quite unless someone proposes a game on a.n.other night!

The thing with BF2 is that people want to play on the ranked servers for the points etc.. which you can't host at home unfortunately.

We'll be on Sunday night in force! See you then if you are about.

Ooh - different...

15 second lag between re-birth is a pain & believe me I'm doing a lot of that! That and when you run out of spawn points

Can't crouch, crawl and can't do lots of things

Doh!

You can 'prone' which is lie down, then crawl - 'v' I think.

Soon enough you'll find the 15sec respawn a welcome break sometimes!
Like one of the maps tonight 118/117 - soo close! Preasure was on all the time!

Good games tonight all

Hopefully see you on Tuesday night!

GOt to say tho' the more you play, the more 'moments' you get. I was riding shotgun with Laser a few times in an attack chopper and we got hit, so I bailed out only to get rammed by the plane that had shot us down before I had deployed my 'chute!.

I felt bit sorry for some of the opposition a few times tho' - I was almost spawn camping while trying to get a flag capture and just kept killing people with my tank as they spawned again from the last time I killed them

Oh, and I acted like a complete mong in one game and TK'd one of my own guys mistaking him for the opposition Mind you I felt so bad about the -ve score I just kept supplying ammo to everyone I could find - I ended up getting the Veteran supply medal for that! (Anti-Tank guys loved me.. I just lay next to them re-filling their ammo while they blew tanks up!)

I enjoyed nose gunner for "laserman" - best use of any talents I may/may not have There was NO WAY I was going to try flying though - I've tried a couple of times and just crash LOL

Part of it for me is discovering what I can do with various things so swimming in tanks is fun

Things I still can't do

Crawl
Change my spawn location other than when it's overrun by the enemy
Speak either on screen or mic
Understand MEC
Shoot straight

& lots more

RTFM I know but it interferes with my gameplay

One of the things that does irritate me (after playing CS) is that its longer sometimes to find enemies to kill. Sometimes you can tromp all round a map for ages and still not find someone

Still getting into it I guess..

I remapped virtually every key to my own preferred set up:
a - forward
z - back
left shift - left
x - right
c - crouch
s - jump
w - prone

Just pop into options and see what is mapped to what - (write it out) then get used to that mapping unless you blank EVERYTHING and start again (as I had to)

Spawn location is achieved by going to the squad screen - CAPS lock in my setup (which I think is the default) you can do this any time.

As to running around - look at the map, you CAN see where the vehicles are: go find one

Team America anyone..

You can set all voices to English in the Audio options

Anyone remember 'Space *****' - the gunner that 'shoots across the bow'

You got it - it does take a while to pick things up and work out what you do and don't need based on how you play, but its worth sticking with it

One of the things that does irritate me (after playing CS) is that its longer sometimes to find enemies to kill. Sometimes you can tromp all round a map for ages and still not find someone
You need to use the 'n' (i think, or 'm') key to zoom the map in/out top right, then you'll be able to see where enemies have been spotted.

My advice:

Primary objective: capture the flag
Secondary: take out an enemy along the way

You'll get the most points this way when ground troops.

Hope that helps

So how does being in a squad boost your score?

Lack of space on my C: Partition. Had to get Partition Magic to sort it out (took HOURS!) and I've also just brought one of those Fatality FPS sound cards
Whilst fitting it I thought I'd finally connect the front USB ports to the motherboard but because each wire was seperate I had a bit of a job connecting them.. then I forgot to reconnect the rear USB ports
Once I'd done all that I thought I'd just try out the X-Fi effects in BF2 (still on the 1.2 patch) and once I clicked 'apply' the whole machine crashed!

Uninstalled BF2 and SF. Reinstalled them this morning. Just need to do the 1.21 patch now...

Good question - I'm not sure you get points for just being in a squad - the commander gets points for just issuing orders (that get followed) and such like I believe... as Neanderthal says - might be team work points awarded?

But, you can get points quicker - say a squad of 3 zip round a map together.
You'll be able to capture flags a lot quicker (capture points, capture assist), defend them (kill points) and possibly support/medic points and even repair if engineer! It's how you play as a squad and support each other.

Two sites that report roughly the same info re points:

http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com...&id=76&game=3/

http://battlefield2.filefront.com/info/BF2_GI_Points

Ah ha!

Commander 's score is based on average team score (x2 if your side wins) - that explains it!

Secret Squirrel isn't it? Which is always a problem for me, as I haven't learnt the maps yet As evidenced by my blundering around last time
