Right you bast!
I had to go to Tescos after work and what should happen to catch my eye as I walked past.... BF2:SF.
I'm installing as we speak (well uninstalling BF2, reinstalling BF2, SF, then the patch )
See you online soldier!

Don't forget to re-apply patch version 1.12 after you have installed SF or you may have problems.

Amazing but does anything exist to use that kind of performance right now? I run BF2 on max everything with my 7800 and it runs like a dream
Would this per chance be a quote from anyone that's posted in this thread?

So how do you lot usually connect to a game then?

Last night I tried (for the first time) to have a game. I looked for the server (mentioned on page 1 of this thread) but couldn't see it in the server list.

I kept connecting to servers, and instantly getting kicked from them again with a message saying "You have beed kicked for excessive team killing". Very strange seeing as I never even got into the game.

Other times, I connected and got as far as the verifying client data stage, only to be dumped straight back to the server list, with no error messages at all.

Eventually I managed to log into one of the EA servers and managed about 2 hours of gaming with no further problems. In total I reckon it took me about 3 quarters of an hour to get into a game though.

Is it normally like this, as if so, I'm not sure I can be bothered to try it again...

Did you add the server using the IP address, or just look for the SNAFU_UK server in the server list?
You shouldn't have as much trouble as you did last night. Although the account servers are known to play up occasionally.

No, I just looked for the name in the list. I'll try adding the ip address next time then...

Are you using a wireless network connection?

No wireless. It's a wired 100mbit connection connected to a 10mb broadband connection, so speed or dropouts shouldn't be an issue.

I also had it crash on me a couple of times whilst trying to connect to a server, (I had to use task manager to kill it). Once I finally got onto the EA server, it ran just fine.

Actually, when it finally got working I was playing it at 1600x1200 with every single detail setting at maximum, (including 4x fsaa and) the xi-fi sound turned on, and it was very quick and silky smooth.

I wonder if the broadband connection itself was doing funny things. WIll have to try again

Well, see how you get on tomorrow night.

Vanilla BF2 again tomorrow, but starting with Karkland - resetting the map order today, will reboot the server tomorrow if necessary.

Neanderthal - you sorted your SF woes?

Seen the one called "european war" so probably won't have to worry about friendly fire

Tried SF in single player mode and it seems to run ok on my haggered old PC so looking forward to Thrusday

Mornin' all,

As per previous posts, a few of us on here play BF2, and are using a server we lease from MPuk.

Server name: SNAFU_UK
Server IP: 85.236.101.15:16768
Slots: 40
Map Size: 64
Status: ranked
Max ping: 250

Tuesday: BF2
Thursday: BF2 SF
Sunday: BF2 or BF2 SF depending on the clan's choice.

Just wanted to say again, all are welcome to join in with us, we tend to play Tuesdays, Thursday and Sundays, kicking off 9pm, although it can be earlier, especially on Sundays.

We've already got a few Scoobynetters in the clan, and are recruiting - its not a 'serious' clan, more a fun one.

Just in case you see us around, you'll see familar names, such as:

BF2 tag SN tag
SNAFU_MATTeL MATTeL
SNAFU_D0M DomA
SNAFU_cottonfoo stevencotton
SNAFU_DrEvil me!

Hope to see you on there soon

Rgds, Alex

This still all the correct info? If so i will be on tomorrow night Need to get my rank up!

Do I need to change my user name to be able to log into the server (put a SNAFu in front of it), or can I just go in as my standard name (i.e. Gutgouger)?
