So a child dies every three seconds....

understand how frustrated you are jaydee i would be sick to my stomach if i had to watch babies dying by the minute needlessly. As for slagging Sir Bob can only think some people have a totally sick mindset.........he doesnt have to give a toss but has removed his head from the sand to try and help another person.......that is SO bad

Does anyone know the answer to the plight in Africa that is actually acheivable under Mugabe`s rein? I think not...
Wiping out Africas debt will only line his pocket.

In the big scheme of things do you think any one of you is going to make a miniscular (sp) difference to what's going on today?? But if just ONE of you gave a tiny second's thought to WANTING to make a difference....then something may happen
60 odd years ago we sent all our young men to be cannon fodder...we don't do that now because it's not acceptable.
Go and live in africa (or similar).....and make the biggest wish that in 60 years times things won't be the same as they are today.
....and stick you money up your ar$ehole

Huxley, Yoza,
Bit suprised you guys don't know why Africans (and most other poor nationalities) have so many children. Fact of the matter is that poverty is so rife that having lots of children is the only way that families can afford to run their small holdings and eke out a pittance for a living. They don't breed for fun, I'm afraid, and don't have the luxury of being able to "have a ****" just because they think the missus is up for it.
I wish it were possible to take the pampered membership of Scoobynet over to Africa, India, et all so they could experience at first hand the absolute tragedy that abject poverty creates. Couple that to a decent history lesson or two to include the devastating effects of slavery, first world exploitation, colonialism, despotism, banana republics supported by the West for its own ends, the straight-jacket and hangman's noose that the World Bank has been for years and years, etc, and the understanding required to inform debate on here might just be forthcoming.
Oh by the way, I have lived out there. When you see kids gathering drinking water from an open sewer which runs right outside their homes and you see the after effects, it tends to make one stop and think. It's just that little bit removed from what the Evian drinking classes on here partake of.

Shirley your blame would be put to better use elsewhere that on other scoobynet members?
It's so easy to solve the world's plights isn't i't? - just blame the people sat behind their computers doing eff-all
Truth is...nobody can solve the problem without a regime change. And who else can run the country or force that change? Nobody in the western world, thats certain! - Just look at the mess we've already created in countless countries, many causing more harm than good!

Outside of scoobynet every single one of us can make a difference. This place is incestuous but i believe that SN is filled with a whole load of curious minded folk who quietly go about their own business doing "good".
You don't have to put your hands up to that...but stop and think that maybe, you CAN quietly make a difference.
And you don't have to lose your street cred either

No Manda, my faith in "human" beings tells me that your average bloke or bloke-ess actually has an unconcious belief in what's actually good for everyone.
But that's not muppety, is it

Africa has a huge Aids problem mostly thorgh premiscuouis(sp) sex. This is mostly down the the men. A lot less time spend ******* the ****** on the Knishasa highway and then putting it about afterwards would have saved a lot of grief and lives for a lot of people. I know this is a generalisation but true never the less.
Yes and i know the west does not provide enough drugs to help these people, thats not the point i am making.
As for looking after their children then i do think on the whole they do their best with what they have which is not much. I hate the thought of children dying for any reason.

So the actual value of the Coffee is less. So Africas worth is less while Germany's remains stable.
