.....One of the first things he asked me was..."are you a driver by profession?"....when i said yes he complimented me on my driving ability and then said he would have to charge me with dangerous driving....no help that.

HE WANTS TO RAPE YOU HARD, GET A BREIF ASAP

He sounds like he was bullied at school and your face fits with the top boy

If i where you i would get some witnesses to crawl out of the woodwork, saying he showed you his **** etc

Don't know how long these things take for a summons to come through, but it's been nearly three weeks now and nothing. Mind you my solicitor did say to wait and see what you do get...speeding and dangerous driving or just speeding prosecution.
It will be interesting to see the evidence that this single policemen in his car at 1 am in the morning produces to make a dangerous driving charge stick. Still can't understand why he didn't show me any evidence of the speed he said i reached and why my driving was dangerous....is this normal?

They have upto 6 months from the date you were caught to lay papers at the court for the alleged offences. Its part of the softening up method, just when you think its all gone away, bang, the summons drops on the door mat. This way most people just give in and plead guilty to get it over and done with. Hang in there and use a good solicitor.

My bruv got done for a similair thing HOWEVER he admitted to the speeding charge but did not accept the speeds he was accused of.

His defence (defended himself) was that they used the VASCAR out of the HO guidelines i.e. at night there are no shadows from bridges or visible objects to drive over to time the car.

This resulted in them reducing the charge to speeding and him only getting 3 points and a small fine.

A few years back i had a little modded Fiesta RS Turbo and a cavalier GSI 2000 came up behind me like stink, so i done the instinctive thing and gave him a race. Started pulling away from him up to about 125mph when he stuck the blue lights on, jesus i couldnt believe it was the cops.

They pulled me over and said what the hell was i doing, going at that speed, i thought this is it im gonna lose my license so started on him saying that he was up my ****, which he was.

He asked me for my license and in front of it i had a Royal Irish Rangers card, an army card which i used to be in and they asked me if i was in this. I replied yes and he told me to go on and that i was very lucky and not to be speeding again

Couldnt believe my luck, ,aybe it was that i argued my point and that they were in the wrong or that i was in the army and they took a bit of lenience.

I know it doesnt help mate but maybe takes you to argue your point.

Think the moral of this and similar posts is DONT BE GOADED INTO RACING BY SOMEONE DRIVING UP YOUR **** !!!!

Unless its obviously a boy racer - ( dont think the police use bodykitted Corsas with a few grand worth of ICE in them yet ) - think twice before hitting the 'go to jail' pedal.

...agree with you.
But, i had just dropped two passengers off in cambridge in the wee hours of the morning...no one about....when i get followed by a car...at times up my boot.....did he know i was on my own?.....travellers?.....Car jacking?....what am i to think? Just me and him on the road.

I would do the same again....unless there was a police station i could drive to nearby......but there again would it be manned by anyone at 1.15am?

If the police try tailgating me then I guarantee I will just anchor on and then claim I spotted a hazard in the road/at roadside whilst claiming that despite being aware of their presence I took a calculated decision that braking to avoid the hazard was the best course of action.
With any luck I'll get a nice whiplash claim out of it as well as the satisfaction of the police trashing their vehicle/career.

But at night you can't tell who's in the car...

Not such a good tactic if it turns out to be some pi$$ed bankrupt in an uninsured banger!!

Well got my letter from the court today with regards to my speeding offence

and iv'e been given 4 points and a £300 fine with £35 costs.

I feel the letter i wrote helped.

This was for 99mph on a Dual carriageway (70 mph)

4 points isnt that bad for doing 99mph, although the £300 hurts a bit.

Does anyone know the answer to this one as I may have been clocked at about 100 mph last nite.

On my way back from Glasgow and dual carr splits into motorway so I put my foot down in third lane and just as I'm getting upto 100 mph notice a marked cop car in layby .

Foot staright off the gas down to 70ish and waited for them to catch up but no one came.

Can I have been clocked and expect something in the post or do they have to give chase and stop u???

They don't have to give chase if they caught you on a camera.

If you have been caught you should receive a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) through the post within 14 days, any longer than this it's
not valid, unless you were in a company car and they have longer.

If you were caught at 100 mph you could be looking at a ban, one thing
i got away with, Just !

Good Luck

put that defence forward re fearing for car as police car drove aggressively making you fear re carjacking,my mate is awaiting dangerous driving charge and has spent£4,000 on lawyer/professional witness
good luck

Join the club, iv got to appear at Luton court on the 23/08 as I got done for doing double the limit, solicitor reckons 6 points and a fine as its my first offence. Im hoping for points rather than the ban.

I work for an insurance broker and any sort of ban does not look good!!

Some good advice here. I was in a similar position about 5 years ago. I was charged with dangerous driving for doing a 105.6 on the M74. My soliciter was very good and advised me too plead not guilty to dangerous driving as the penalty is so severe you have not a lot to lose. It's up there with drunk driving for seriousness.
The day before I went to court my soliciter veiwed the video evidence and immediatley had the charge reduced to careless driving. I was speeding but on a virtually empty 3 lane motorway in the early evening.
As a lot of people are saying it is a very difficult thing to prove, but don't take the easy option and plead guilty to it as you will still get a 12 month ban and a test re-sit.
Good luck mate.

Make no difference if it's a first offence bud.

If your double the limit, i would'nt like to say what you could get.

After a couple mins on the phone they said it was a cop n he would now flash me. He did. So we all pulled over.

Anyway, i will take my ban and fine with grace.
I have a clean license at the moment....and the copper suggested i wouldn't neccessarily loose my license as i'm a driver by occupation and it might be taken into consideration. However, i'm wondering whether it's better to get a ban and start off again with a clean license...is this what happens?
If a car was right up my boot at 1am I would not not stop either, and would make swift progress to a village or petrol station because I would be scared.

Car jackings involving stabbings are in the local papers, I wouldn’t be surprised if some car jackers have flashing headlights and blue lights under the grill.

I have read about a case like this where the driver was scared and briskly drove away as above and didn’t stop for the blue lights. He drove at the speed limit to village then stopped.

The cps tried to charge the guy for dangerous driving, but this was thrown out because he was simply scared of being car jacked.

Was this possible in your case? people can do things they would never normally do when they are scared and their life is threatened
