MX units are defo more reliable than scoobs from my experience.
Cracking cars, my sisters had a Mk1 1.6 (115bhp) and a Mk2 1.8iS. Both great cars, MK1 more tail happy mk 2 a little more refined, both crying out for a supercharger bolting to them

Girls car?? You people need to get out more and nail one down a twisty country lane, most fun you can have for the money.
If you were that bothered about image you wouldn't be driving a Subaru nowadays,i know i wouldn't,but as i don't care what other people think i do what pleases me.
All i did was swapped a pair of scissors and a comb (mx5) for a burberry cap and fake gold (Impreza).
Who cares??? Not bloody me!!!

The MX-5 is easily a better HANDLING car than my scoob, the turn-in is fantastic, the grip levels are really well balanced to the available torque & power, and the adjustability of the car with either the steering or the throttle is unsurpassed by any modern car you can buy with a sub £30k price tag, let alone the £3k price tag it came with

Owned a P reg 1.8i, then a T reg 1.8iS Sport (full body kit in red).. huge amount of fun. Can't beat 'em for the money.
As for it being a girls car - guess it depends on how insecure you are with your own sexuality - bit like pink shirts. (joke before anyone starts)

Ah yes, but when was the last time you saw an elise that didn't leak like a sieve at the first sniff of rain
Also, they're not much as a car for the wife, where does she put all the shopping
