Redline Oils say of:-
10W30 Oil
Best all-weather viscosity grade for gasoline engines in cars and light trucks that are driven on the street on a daily basis. Reduces turbo lag and provides more power and economy while providing thicker bearing oil films at operating temperature than a petroleum 10W-40. Best all-round, synthetic oil for stock or slightly modified engines in high- performance cars that are street-driven. Best choice to replace a 5W-30 or 10W-30, petroleum-based or other-brand synthetic oil if maximum durability is preferred. Acceptable for engines that are occasionally operated in extreme cold weather.
Of:-
10W40 Oil
Best choice for engines that typically run high oil temperature or for engines in daily-driven vehicles regularly operated in hot weather. Great for medium and heavy duty gasoline engines in trucks. Best choice for high-performance engines that see street/strip or track activity. Features a thicker oil film at operating temperature than a petro-based 20W-50.
And of:-
15W50 Oil
The ultimate high-temperature protection in Red Line engine oils recommended for street use. Good for engines that regularly run very high oil temperatures. Best for engines that run large clearances such as air-cooled engines or large-displacement, all-out racing engines that see occasional street use. Provides 25% more viscosity in bearings than petroleum 20W-50s. Not recommended for use in cold climates where temperatures are at or below 10°F or -12°C. Not recommended for street use in production engines that see sustained oil temperatures below 225°F (those engines should use Red Line 10W-30 or 10W-40).

10W-40 looks good ..... but the idea of a thinner oil interests me so the 10W-30 could be the one for power, fuel economy and reducing Turbo lag.

I've read all the way through this thread, and i'm amazed at the way fellow Scooby owners insult each other!! As a recent new owner, i'm hoping that this isn't some disease that affects Subaru owners after a while...... and where are the moderators? I'm surprised they haven't told you all to cool it yet!! Personally, i don't know too much about oil, but i DO value my Scooby, so i won't fuss about spending a little more to ensure peace of mind from a well-established, quality producer like Mobil, Silkolene or Redline!! And lets face it, when you're forking out quite a bit on fuel anyway, what's a few extra quid every year compared to peace of mind!!
One last thing - Pete mate, what gives you the impression that all poetry has to rhyme? You obviously know very little about poetry..... and don't even think about saying i must be gay if i read poetry - its just that my old dear used to be an english teacher, so i had poetry read to me quite often.

I'm only ever rude to people i've met!! That way, i know if its safe to be rude or not..... Generally, i'm pretty amiable though, don't see any need for rudeness - a mate of mine once said to me...."if you can't find anything good to say about someone, then don't say anything!!" I've found that to be good advice!! Helps me to get on with other people......

As for being ****, just look at your post count ffs.
Noticed again your worrying habit of introducing the colour pink to unrelated subjects....and your homophobic tendencies. Tell me about your childhood, were you molested perhaps? Did you ever meet your parents?
Lol at you laughing at the 'anally retentive', talk about ignoring reality when it's staring you in the face.......got any mirrors in your house?
Let's have your next outpouring of mindless dross then........

Oh, feel free, he'll huff and he'll puff and he'll huff and puff .... but in the end, he's just a bag of wind (he fancies himself against a 76 year old pensioner too ... now, THATS tough for you, watch out!!)
Pete
Not yet.....but i'm sure I will......and i won't be rude to him either!!

ive used carlube r 5/30 and millers 10/40 fully synthetic in my scooby for many years and have had no problems. i tried castrol magnatec and from first start up on idle the engine sounded like the cams where ticking, went back to carlube and the ticking was gone engine sounded sweet again. i stupiedly went back to castrol magnatec and ticking was back and after few days i blew my engine. my experiance would be never buy castrol magnatec, carlube r is much better oil.
