Mark S :- Oilman was going to post the DATA Sheet for the CarLube stuff ... I have been awaiting that to arrive. He is in the business, so should be able to access it quite easily ......... of course, if it looks too good he might not want to post it up?

Anyway, we could then see one spec against another - a direct comparison.

You seem to suggest in your posts that CarLube is not a quality oil .... where is YOUR evidence for that statement?? Lets see it, now....thanks

Probably the most expensive oil available! What are you trying to say Pete? Something that is good AND expensive? And you like it?

I know, I know .... helping AlanPPP on the other thread and then thinking about the most expensive oil money can buy!!

I am starting to get scared about the engines fitted by Subaru - they seem really to be made of chocolate and need special oils/special procedures/special words and are a complete mystery

Of course you're the richest fella on here...you've saved all your money by inventing ownership of a car, instead of buying a real one. Couldn't you invent a personality for yourself? It's already worked with your car and all of your jobs.

You could really go to town and invent yourself an I.Q., and some grammar. And something interesting to say.

Yeah, I know it's a lot to ask, maybe just one thing at a time.

Tell me again about this Subaru you're convinced you own. And when do you get to drive it...you're always on here, you must keep a laptop in this car of yours.

Pete, please read my post. There is no technical data available on the internet which in my experience is not great news, they must have something to hide I guess although I may be wrong.

What I actually said was that I'm trying to get hold of "chemical analysis" from another oil company which will tell me what it's actually made up of!
I wouldn't mind a bet that it is petroleum basestocks and not synthetic

If I can get hold of this and hopefully I'll have a response next week then we'll know. Or Pete, how about you put it in your car and send me a spice jars worth and I'll have it tested for you?

Cheers
Simon

Thanks Simon

I thought someone in the business like you would have access to all the data sheets on all oils??

As a retailer only, I suppose your access is the same as any Joe-Bloggs??

How about the Redline Oil info I posted?? Looks pretty good to me?? What do you think?? You might not stock Redline so may want to poo-poo it, but it does look good!

Me conned?, I've been sitting back laughing at him winding you all up

Look at it this way, subaru use shell helix semi, Pete's car has run fine for 55k miles using it (as have many hundreds of others) the carlube fully synth is probably just as good as that (if not better).

My RX7 ran on plain old mineral oil, shock horror!!, it's reccomended by mazda (so as not to damage the rubber seals in the engine) and I'd say 98% of rx7 owners use it. They rev a lot higher than imprezas and the lifespan of the engine is not down to lubrication.

James, Micared is a ***** of the highest order - he is very mad and bitter as he has a PINK Impreza he can't sell (been trying and trying and trying and trying since Xmas)!!

He hasn't yet figured out that his tastes apply only to himself .... no-one else is quite so queer

You are quite right, of course, Shell Helix (recommended by Subaru will be no better than CarLube TripleR)

Glad you enjoyed the read my friend

Still bravely calling me from behind your keyboard Lewis? Like the opportunity to call me a ***** to my face? Let me know. Golden opportunity for you to beat me to death with your keyboard. Seems to be your weapon of choice.

James, you've been conned twice....first by thinking that Lewis actually owns a Scoob, and then by thinking I'm wound up. I'm amazed by the amount of people on here who actually buy into the idea that he has anything in his life other than this forum. I only enter into this to see how long it takes him to make a spelling/grammatical error, or to invent another job he has a history of expertise in. Never had to wait long so far, and he makes himself an easy target. First rule of being a compulsive liar and not be found out, is to have a good memory...he doesn't.

He's living in a parallel universe, where the things he makes up actually occur in his world. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to confirm the I.Q. levels from his planet, but the early signs aren't encouraging.

He also has a worrying obsession with pink.

Pete, everyone with a brain enjoys your debunking of scoobynet myths.

Do you really have to be so unpleasant to micared? It undermines your case.

Thanks Bub, quite happy to let him babble on incoherently with his rants at me though. Pure comedy from where I'm sitting. And no, the subtlety of your post didn't go unnoticed, in case you were wondering!

His problem is that, for a wind-up merchant, he gets wound up too easily.....kinda defeats the purpose, but he can't seem to see it.

I'm losing my way on this thread. I thought the whole point was that PSL was challenging the necessity to use expensive brand name oils (Silkolene/Castrol/Motul etc..) in our Subaru's, and hey here's a nice cheap oil (Carlube) I found which should do nicely cos its synthetic.
So where does this Redline stuff fit in to the argument

Wrt the Carlube stuff Pete, maybe your right maybe your wrong about its ability but I suspect most people reading this would want a whole lot more info before considering that particular oil for their engines.

Using cheap oil in a high performance car smacks of a false economy to me, and risky. But you'd probably get away with it cos I heard you drive like Miss Daisy

Micared wants a meet, he fancies himself against a 76 year frail old man - I wonder how he would be if they came a little bigger and meaner??

Mark_S:- I was questioning whether CarLube Synthetic was worth thinking about as its used by TVR and Morgan in their cars (TVR's are crap yes, but they wouldn't put junk oil in their cars would they?). I personally think it would be fine.

The Redline Oil was at the other end of the scale ... it appears to be the best oil money can buy - I'm an Oil or nothing kinda guy

I think I will stick to Shell Helix ....

TVR's are crap yes, but they wouldn't put junk oil in their cars would they?).
Well if its a old chimera, griff, wedgie or a +8 with the rovvy V8, yes they could run on literally anything.

Seriously, you could run Golden syrup in these things and they wouldn't seize....Me having personally driven 100mile round trip with no oil pressure. Ok ok, that was a bit of an exaggeration, it was about 1psi...I could just about get 4-5psi at 5000rpm

They are not the best of engines to base standards on IMO. The norm is to dump in the thickest sludge you can find...just the TVR boys like to use synthetic sludge..the thicker the better (cue age old argument over thick oil and high pressure versus thin oil and more flow) ).

Redline warns against a thick 15W-50 Oil ........

But some on here like adding drag to their engines and losing power, 10W-40 is the best I would say?? Subaru know their engines!

Yawn, zzzzzzzzzz, the keyboard fightback expert threatening me with physical violence, lol.

Phone number has been posted on here many times before...do a search, you lazy ****, and call me. I'll have to pop round to you though, 'cos you don't really have transport, do you?

Always enjoy the spectacle of watching a mouthy **** trying to pick his teeth up with broken fingers, might as well be you next......somehow doubt you'll be in touch though. Too busy being the forum keyboard warrior.

If I really believed you were 76 and 20 stone, that'd be different....however, you never tell the truth about anything else, why start now? Reckon you're more likely to be 20 and 76 stone. Looking forward to that call, don't forget. And no witheld numbers, hard lad, I'm not one of your premium rate favourites.

You do let yourself get upset Pete, at your age you should learn to relax a bit more....after all, as you're always saying, it's not real life you know.
