Nice work

Never seen under the bonnet of an Escort before, seems they really did just re-shell the Sierra

Being in the climate Hong Kong is it was kept from rust very well on the underside and the body but with areas where leaves were left i.e front wings these had to be replaced

They usually rust in areas such as the petrol cap area and fuel tank straps but they didn't have a hint of rust in these areas which was great.

Looks great that small turbo build that your cousin has! hopefully it will look as nice when it's done.

Not a silly question at all, it's one of those cars I have wanted when I was younger and when I was young and saw the car in the condition it was wanted to go grab a bucket and sponge too it! Would love to keep it long term but depends on financial situation as it's costing a few more pennies then I'd hoped so far and with marriage on the books soon I will decide from then.

A classic like this will be great in price and hold value but it was something I wanted to restore so either way I'd be happy once it's done but all depends on the Mrs....

Good work, I bet it's costing quite a few pennies. What are your plans with the engine? will you be having it stripped and checked/reconditioned along with things like alternator and starter motor?

Yup engine is getting the full works, wouldn't trust myself so have a specialist dealing with it, as with a project like this big if it needs replacing or I'm not happy with it i'll replace the item .

Hasn't been 8 years but with many things I've had to deal with 2 weddings (same wife different locations), moving to another property, new puppy, new chickens (as you do), business projects and my fish tank.

Good news is car is nearly back on the road.

Bad news for me is that I won't be keeping it as we would like to start a family soon and still owe my wife a honeymoon to Seychelles (didn't have time with work).

Slight update on the car.

Back from the body shop but the bonnet clips were broken so new ones are on order, not too far off MOT I believe so next process will be registering it with the MOT.

Sadly will be for sale shortly, please contact me if you are interested.

Dealt with all the paperwork and so just needs a MOT, needs a few minor bits but can't wait to drive it once it's passed the MOT and registered. Although engine will need to be bedded in so will just be trotting around

I'll update with more photos I have but will have to dig back

Have you got a battery cover coming for it? Without that you can get water ingress into the battery when it rains. This causes the battery to overflow which rots out the battery tray

Seems a real shame to sell it on after all the hard work you've put into it. Could you not lock i away for a few years as a nest egg for the future?

Afraid after a permanent import the plates need to be changed, if its not then I believe it can be used for up to a year. The car is all now registered so is on a UK Plate.

Hi Neil, Sounds great but as life goes on circumstances change in the 3 years the car has been over here. Have gout attacks on my feet and hands at times and will be reverting back to automatic cars. Got married last year and so would like to start a family so cars are not top of my priorities. I'd prefer money to go into business ventures rather wait for the prices to go up personally as I wouldn't be able to enjoy the car.

Hi guys, a lot has been done to the car since, priced to sell and basically claim back what I have spent on the car, if anyone is interested the advert and contact details are here.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1220649330...84.m1555.l2649

MOT and finally fully registered.
