Yes, the Delta Dash (?) estimates suggest an significant increase over the 333BHP from before with an even bigger torque increase, which overloaded the 'box.

I've ragged the 'box with 333bhp for some time now, around UK tracks and the 'Ring. I thought I may have a strong box or perhaps enough mechanical sympathy to test it some more. I was wrong

Why is it that some get away with 400? Do they really have 400, do they drive like a *****?

Judging from the state of your last clutch Floyd, i think you are a sypathetic driver. However, I don't know of anyone with a genuine 400hp that's had a UK box last. I think the shorter STI and R/RA boxes are perhaps a little stronger, but also the loads are less due to the 4.44 diffs. 400hp cars often run without bags of low down torque too.

I think it's about par for the course.

I look forward to seeing what it goes like with the twin scroll setup.

You should have put that clutch on display Paul as some, I'm sure, wouldn't believe it could look so good!

I've just done some homework and Shaun's car made similar power at one stage, with 1.55 bar, where mine has used 1.4 bar.

Default The results!

I now have DD results but I'd like to have a RR run at either WRC or PS to check changes against previous results. Anyway, what is checkable are 3rd gear actual timings are as follows:

In Gear Acceleration:
40 - 60mph = 2.5 seconds
50 - 70mph = 2.3 seconds
60 - 80mph = 2.4 seconds
70 - 90mph = 2.7 seconds

Hopefully I'll get to drive it tomorrow so I can report on how it 'goes'.

And you were expecting a BHP/LBFT figure

Nice figures mate.

For comparison on my hybrid TS setup:

40 - 60mph = 2.0 seconds
50 - 70mph = 1.9 seconds
60 - 80mph = 2.0 seconds
70 - 90mph = 2.3 seconds

Completed in 4th.

I forgot to ask about the RR Paul, anyway many thanks for the prompt and excellent service. Thanks also for letting me retrieve my car at a convenient time

Shaun, good figures but I'm not sure what power the new hybrid is making? How heavy was your passenger, not that will make a massive difference?

I've had a little play tonight and the performance is brisk, smooth and soooo quiet! Thanks Bob.

Bedford, here I come

Circa 370-380bhp 360lbft

Had no passenger, but obviously my newage is quite a bit heavier than yours I would presume. Measured weight with me in the car, laptop and full tank of fuel (always use same configuration when using Road Dyno) is 1450kg's.

Camera phone so not the best quality but you get the picture. I didn't imagine the damage would be quite so drastic.

All broken gears are catastrophic, don't think I've ever seen a slightly broken one

Thanks Kip!

Graham, it sounded like a bag o nails when it went. I got caught in a traffic jam trying to get home with 3 gears and I'm just glad that it wasn't summer with everyones windows down as I sat next to them with my rattling box

LOL, my standard one went at a similar power level way back in May 2003, although, there were no teeth left at all on mine. Now just imagine doing that THREE times in 2 months to uprated gearsets!!!!

3 times I hope my uprated gear set doesn't go that way too!? Mind you, you are 'special' when it comes to mechanical sympathy

Have you sent my 'item' yet Steven

I did Bedford today; not checked the car over yet but the car is still going without any odd noises and nothing obvious has fallen off The power from the twinscroll comes in so smoothly it doesn't feel as perky as the VF35 but the way I could dispatch the 2 FQ400's tell's a different story

The PPG held up well The Pilot cup tyres worked surprisingly well in the wet and were really good in the dry - AST on max soft in the wet. There was no rubbing either and my only comment is that the car has become a little snappy now. More playing with the chassis will improve things further.

I've taken a few pictures of some further tweeks. I've worked on the undertray some more and created a better rubber seal/skirt to be able to remove the temporary foam:

Default Bracket

The turbo was floating and I wasn't very happy with it so I fabricated a small bracket:
Name: Twinscrollbracket006.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 87.2 KB
It's not as heavy weight as the originals (that now won't fit) but better than just holding the turbo on the up/down pipes and the inlet/outlet pipes! It fits to the top rear left of the engine and the front of the turbo flange:

I discovered a clicking noise from the wheel area after the Bedford track day. At first I thought I'd broken the diff or the driveshafts as there are 2 hairpin bends where I managed to lift a wheel and spin it, sometimes spinning all 4 wheels in a sideways drift. The clicking got worse on any level of lock and could be heard on turns at speed. After doing some searching it seemed like it could be the wheel bearings and a second opinion backed this up.

I changed the wheels to my road set so I could refurb the track wheels, as I needed to go to Silverstone (Britcar 24hr). I'm puzzled as the clicking noise has dissapeared! I'll try my track wheels on it again to see if there's some contact somewhere, as these are wider tyres.

Check that it's not the brake hoses rubbing on the balance weights...

Caught me out at Bedford many many many moons ago

No worries Steven, I realise you're a busy chap!

The bracket is impossible to fit unless the car is on ramps. I'll work on the rear bracket next, as it's far easier to get to (once the TMIC is removed).

Once that is done the car needs only very minor touches but esentially it's finished If I was doing this project again the only thing I'd significantly change is the Samco inlet for the STi8 inlet pipe. I feel this would have improved the mild surge for little loss of performance if any.

So, if there was a stage IV what would it be...? One thing is for sure, it won't be economy
