I used Manchester United as an example because they do need the supporters whoever they are to fund the club. The point about Glazer is that it's the real fans that he will try and bleed dry. The "Glory Supporters" as you put it don't put it would not be able to sustain the club at the level it is now or above.

You also have far too many preconceptions regarding the fan base of Manchester United.......but I guess that makes you feel better about how you feel about them
Question, are u a utd supporter?

Coming from Oldham (a section, god help it, of Manchester) I have first had experience of knowing many a glory supporter. I grew up early 80's following Oldham, many friends supported man utd. fine not a prob, but when Oldham hit the big time in late 80's early 90's why did attendance figures shoot through the roof at latics? because glory supports including my mates who had followed utd for so many years started to follow a winning team. come back to their demise in the mid 90's where did all them supporters go?

Its a fact of life that people will pay to watch top flight football. real fan or not. if oldham went on a winning run and got back to the prem Im sure there wont be just the usual 5500 fans turning up every week.

I dont mind real utd fans, not got a problem with them, but Im trying to tell you they REAL fans of utd are outweighed by the glory supporters.

I don't think that's in dispute I think STi is just trying to say that the proportions aren't as bad as many think.

The fight against Glazer is important, the man is a leech and needs United to survive not like the other way around.

My original point has been sidetracked. I was saying that Chelsea are no longer dependant on the 'fans' (loose term here. Anybody who puts some money into the club and has an interest in them winning) due to the money from Abramovich. I used United as an example in that even if Glazer took over he would still need the 'fans' (see above) ;even more so in fact for the club to run/survive.

That is what I was trying to say....

I understand that, fair enough.... but to be fair if Utd didnt sell their souls to the stock market many moons ago you probably wouldnt be in this position now... reap what you sow and all that. I do feel for the true supporter though, it cant be a good thing for you to have this guy running the show.

But being a true blue I look forward to man u's demise lol

And being a true blue you'll know that Abramovic getting bored and taking his cash away will happen milleniumns before a Man U demise.
If it wasnt for the 95 million pounds Chelski spent in the last 12 months it would be another epic battle betwix the Utd and the goonies...

Now sing with me come sing with me
Your not Chelsea any more - your not Cheslea any more

Erm, read my posts plonker, think you'll find there are more than 1 team who play in Blue and Chelsea aint the real deal

Secondly, Ive said from day 1 Im sure Roman will get bored and pull out eventually leaving them in lots of bother

Thirdly, I must add. this 95million chelsea have spent aint exactly made much difference to that starting 11 they put out most weeks has it? Joe Cole, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Wayne Bridge, Makalle, Gudjohnson, Duff maybe off the top of my head? All regualrs before roman came on the scene. Chelsea have great team spirt, you can see ti a mile off

Even so, hardly paid for the likes of Zidane and made a real madrid 2 with the money did they, average players IMO. apart from Cole and Duff (then again Makelle has been outstanding this season)

Only one way to go for you lot. With the amount of enemies you are making I think it will probably come sooner than you expect.

With success comes jealousy, I mean enemies, you should know that, now that your just one of the chasing pack you might get a few more friends, Norwich, Pompey.... that sort of thing

I was replying to something earlier that incorrectly said that these players weren't bought with roman money.

(now awaiting another daft pro-chelsea muppet comment...)

Yep we were the first to float on the stock market when Sugar took over, and I wouldn't say we were unsuccessful from it, we have raised the cash to finish developing the ground when we put the second tier on the paxton road end( to its current form ) and didn't cost the clucb a penny

United have been more succesful with it but they are a bigger club with a bigger turnover so it is to be expected.

But as our figures that were released the other week show, a tidy profit over the last 6 months and only just over 9 million in debt Not many clubs outside the top 4 can claim to be in that state
