Holiday was great. Monaco first, then across the South of France to a classic car race in a fortified old French town on sunday last.
Fantastic.
Final race was 17 911's battling it out on the street course at 10/10th's, just magic three wheel cornering everywhere.
Pity about the hire car, but that is another story!

Thinking of doing 2 French hill climbs next year, the first is 5 Km long!!!

I'll be needing those brakes of yours!

Graham.

Cheers John, like wise. Interested in you power output using the Garrett.

Graham, John's engine came from Ron after the GB, I'm sure he'd give you a ball park figure.

No great changes, just waiting for the turbo to come back.

Played with the carbon bonnet

And put the wheels back on, I've dropped the suspension too much so will need to raise it and it's got about 5 degrees of negative camber at the moment

Over tomorrow so will do a bit more and clear up around the car so my might can start building his own gym.

TOO expensive!
I wonder if the demand for 6 speeders has leaned out?
Those wheels have suffered Mark, mind you, my P1 wheels don't look too good either.

Anybody tell me the bolt size to attach the clutch cover to the 6sp flywheel?

Can you buy a "T" adapter allow both oil temp & pressure to be taken from the plug over number 3 cylinder?

Couple more pics with the CF bonnet on, notice it's moving

and with the P1 style spoiler in place

Interior pic with the gear lever all connected up and surround back in place. ignore the rubbish in the footwell

Final pic showing the negative camber (it's not the best angle, it looks better in the flesh)

Racing the clio 2/52. Looks good and is pretty quick, just need to find some slicks.

It was nice to see the subaru in daily light, it'sbeen off the road for nearly a year.
Lots of little details left to finish.

No had problems with the turbo, currently the turbo is with Andy waiting arrival of new exhaust housing from the States.

Other bits include locating cheap 6sp starter and a set of AP 6 pots from fleabay. Fuel rails with Gary but damaged on route to him so need to source another one, aarrrgghhh.

Once the turbo is back then I'll drop the engine in and plan to take a couple of days off to sort this out.

Not spoken to my friend about moving the car and he's not mentioned it recently so I might be able to complete the work in his barn.

Any other developments i.e. Subaru fairies have visited, I'll let you know

Just in case you think I'm going soft here is my second video from the motorsport forum (04)clip

Papa's gonna suck you up

Got the tweaked 20g back from Andy, can't remember what the spec is but I'm sure Andy will remind me.

Looking forward to putting the engine back in soon.

Big thanks to Andy F.

I'm missing the oil feed nut or is it in the bottom of the box?

When you have it all button'd-up what are your target outputs?
What pistons did you fit in the end Mark in the 2.5, and were they pricey?

I'm interested to see if the 2.5 (any 2.5) can rev to Sti levels @ 8K.

Graham.

Target to start with will be 400/400, it might be less to start with, till I've tweaked it and I might up the levels come race days to around 450!!

John made his (AXP stg3) hit 9.5k!! but then he missed a gear and chucked a bearing.

I will be setting RPM limit to 8k, I've used Axis Racing pistons (CP) and rods (Pauter) in a stage 3 engine. The cost was excellent and Ron is a top bloke. He gave me a large discount because of the numbers ordered.

I'm sure he might be willing to offer you a discount. His website http://www.axispowerracing.net/index.html is worth a look. He said at the very least it's worth swapping the pistons.

Pistons are $600 for any 2.0 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 2.65 litre size
Rods are $600 a set also.

He was also very helpful with the shipping if you know what I mean.

I can give you the figures as PM if required but I think he offers excellent value for money. It should in theory be easier to get a 2.5 in the UK soon with the latest STi being 2.5 etc

Has anyone found a source/supply for Sti 2.5 short blocks in the UK as opposed to Axis?

Axis just quote $2100 for the Stage 2 block, $150 for gaskets, $350 shipping.
Add vat to this lot = £1700 ish.
You get forged pistons for this so a block good for 450bhp x 400 lbft.
So tempting.
Add the rest though for the engine...about another 1000
And a good gearbox........................................... 1500
or a very good gearbox.......................................3000
