Not sure if that sounds good or not, but it sure sounds different to me.
Equal length headers?

At least it is running. Get it mapped before salt is on the roads.

That doesnt sound nice. Does it disappear once fully warm?

Is your cambelt fully tensioned?

Sounds much better when fully warm i.e oil temp above 60 degrees

Gruppe-s headers

It sounds louder on the left as you look at the engine. It also sounds fine when above idle

Remember it has CP pistons

Thought I could hear a chuffing noise, like a leaky exhaust. Ask Andy F to have a listen. He heard an exhaust leak on mine, that I couldn't, even though I knew there was one.

I have Gruppe S on mine and it sounds nothing like that.
Bit of piston slap when starting/running stone cold, but when warm sweet as can be.
Engine out as you say and pop the headers off and look for black blow-by?
I had this, changed the Gruppe S gaskets for UK turbo ones from Sub Dealer (what a game that was) and all is well.

Keep going.

it was a bit uppipe leak though.. ie. with engine cold I could feel the fumes with my hand as flanges were not flat.

Those sure are different!
Could the warmed engine be closing any exhaust leak compared to cold?

Take the headers/up-pipe off and check for black marks?

Good luck!

In the first track, was the radiator connected up? Sorry if it is, but the pic is a bit fuzzy.

If it wasn't connected and filled, then the water would have a noise-dampening effect on moving parts.

Don't start getting disheartened though, companies through loads of people at R&D and you HAVE done this all on your own.

Plus, don't forget you did take time out on the Clio.

I will take the engine out and check, no difference in the video apart from the 2nd was cold and I had driven the car after the first clip.

I've had some bad news/luck which means I will most likely hibernate this project till April

Right in the process of moving the car to a lock-up closer to home.

I've started the process of transferring all my spares this is about a third of it and includes;

11 wheels!!!
6 heads
3 inlet manifolds

I'm starting to think I might need a bigger garage

Anyway once I've moved the car I will decide to either remove the engine again myself and get to the bottom of the oil leak or pay somebody else to do it

I think you will need the lock-up next to this one too...

Take the car to API to get them to 'seal' it?

Keep at it!

In the process of clearing the car prior to moving it I discovered a mouse's nest which has made the whole car stink of urine, nice. The little f*ckers have have eaten various items I'd stored in the boot

My probation period ends in April and I should get a higher pay banding, once this happens I'm sure it will be off to APi

Keep you updated
