I had my avantguard 5.5 fitted at my house to my mr2 turbo for £450 and that came with
1. Glass break sensor (detects sound of broken glass)
2. Tilt and motion sensor
3. proximity sensor
4. intellistart (which is apparently covered by thatcham on this alarm)
And I could use it as a turbo timer without the need for an actual turbo timer and the guy was happy to come and sort out the problem I had with my intellistart a few weeks later which turned out to be a faulty intellistart module from clifford

Itelli start voids the alarm ? insurance see it as its still running even tho key is out its locked n alarmed ive had clifford fitted to all my vehicles with every optional exra on all of them. Best alarm out there go to a reputable place for it fitting some companys just shabby fit them ie were tuy can't see the wiring its all left loose when in reality it all should be made to look part of the loom.

New black wiring alarm where all the wiring is black and not Color coded. Thus makin it harder to disconnect. Not sure which company does it.
As I said before you must make sure the customer service is good incase you have to go back with a problem. Some alarms have life time gaurantee. Avoid company like Motorguard : I've always known intelli start voids your insurance and can be expensive to fit on Becareful who ever told you that it doesn't.

The thatcham certified fitter I always use told me, he also explained that most companies will wire up your intellistart as if its on an automatic transmission so your car will start wether its in gear or not

Are you saying he's wired yours up as an automatic because that can be dangerous. I had a friend who found his car had gone through a brick wall when he went to sit in his nice warm car. because he'd left it gear before using the intelli start.
It's more expensive wiring it the other way as it requires slot more stripping/work.
Another reason I won't have it.

having fitted clifford products for over a decade now i cannot understand anyone who would wire a remote start unit as a auto when the car is a manual, there is no difference in the wiring its all down to the programming zia the computer

No mine was wired correctly where you have to tell it that it's in neutral so it will work only in neutral
