i've bought the concept 650 with the intelistart an turbo timer, just gotta get it fitted.
what exactly does the turbo timer do? i've been told it'll keep the engine on but the car will be immobilised, so the turbo gets to cool down properly.
the remote start should be quite useful for me, cos i can start her up when its still in the garage, then when i drive it , it should be nice an warm.

I was told the turbo timer will keep the engine running for about two minutes when I get out of the car and walk away. Anyone who has seen me will know I probably don't drive fast enough or far enough to get the turbo hot !! This only happens week-ends when it is hubby's turn to drive.
Remote start = Mines in the garage, the installation guy said it would probably be a bit smelly with the engine running in the garage. He has one on his car and hardly ever uses it - only in the winter when it is all iced up as his is not garaged.

what you should also be aware of that is when your turbo timer is running you can just arm your vehicle and walk away knowing that your your car is locked and completely secure and after 2 mins the engine will cut off.

the main differences between the Solaris & the Concept 650 is that the Solaris is not insurance approved and the 650 is, the Solaris does not come with a proximity sensor and blackJax where the 650 does.
With the Solaris system you get intellistart and a dual zone shock where you don't with the 650 but they can be added.

Just a few thoughts. Feel free to ignore
- Turbo timers are not thatcham approved, and any device which affects the operation of immobilisation cuts on your alarm/immobiliser invalidates thatcham approval. This means that, technically, you could find yourself with no theft insurance although that is admittedly very unlikely - however, I wouldn't want to be the test case which sorted out the case law for that one...
- Leaving a car with the motor running unattended on a public road is illegal. I very much doubt you'd ever get hassle for it
- Driving sensibly for two minutes before you pull up and turn off the engine is a *much* better idea. It'll give your brakes and other components a chance to cool down a bit more naturally - plus, with airflow over the engine I'd guess that it cools down more in those 2 minutes soft driving than it does sitting with the engine running
Ta,
Nick.

i had a clifford concept 650 fitted for 311 quid all in, in sheffield area. i m really happy with it, didnt go for turbo timer though as it affects your insurance! ask your ins co for details, it is no longer thatcham 1 when apllied.

On a side note, got it from motorguard and also had a GTO and FTO kitted out by them, absolutely sound bunch of people, great price and great service, highly recommended.
Local company wanted to charge me 750 pounds for a clifford 650 with intellistart and turbo timer, motorguard did it for 500.

Getting a clifford 650 fitted to my WRX on Monday for £380 with Dual-Zone Proximity which includes external warn-away chirp and the guy said he can actually link the alarm to my Blitz turbo timer which I will have more control over against a clifford one. The 650 is a great alarm as I had one on my old car. One thing I would say is read manual thoroughly before you mess with it as you can end up in bother very easily if messing with settings. Plus the add-ons are endless so you can’t really go wrong.

Be wary .. I seem to remember somewhere that fitting the intellistart to cliffords actually invalidated their thatchem 1 catagory as the car is left running on exit (even though it is allarmed and you have locked all the doors etc... double check as it may be different now..

True, anthing that allows the car to start without keys and owner (intelistart), or allows the engine to stop whilst driving (blackjax), will in theory invalidate Thatcham approval.

Don't Bother
Went to have my alarm fitted from motor guard. Worst mistake! The new owner gave a rude answer to all my questions. And then refused to give me deposit back when i turned up at 10am when he clearly said "i open at 9am any time around then." it was not like i turned up at 5pm. Anyway suppose thats why he's been banned from forum. Atleast i don't have to go for after sale problems. I'd rather pay a bit extra and have good aftercare.
I know everyone says go to trading standards and get your money back!
As long as you know.
