I suppose that's why at my wife's school, 1 afternoon a week they've had to rely on the goodwill of former teachers and teaching assistants to cover for the "preparation time" given to teachers - there is no additional funding to fill the teacher's time lost. She's not a teacher - just one of the teaching assistants doing a teachers job for 1/4 of the pay.

And preceisely how much money has been thrown at abortive IT projects - with the ultimate one (ID cards) still to come ?

Unfortunately I think you are right - 5 more years of New Labour is all but inevitable - Lord alone knows what kind of state this country's going to be in by 2010.

Well it can't get repo'd as I own it - was able to pay off the mortgage early due to low interest rates under Labour

Not sure if owning a property in the UK is a good or bad thing though given the future prospects of the country

Believe it or not, I am FULLY in agreement with you regards LSA's .. they are paid 1/4 of a teachers pay and work the same hours as a teacher (if not more!)

What makes me laugh is the teachers get 3.5% PLUS an increment of about £1200 EACH YEAR! and they STILL moan!

Teachers workload is being reduced and their wages hiked up RAPIDLY - the Assistants are looked down upon by the teachers ... and its a disgrace! I am fighting my corner to resolve this .... but the LSA'a need to join the Brighton lot and walk out!

No, because they either get one of their cronies in to have an enquiry of which the result is obvious before it actually appears or as in the case of Mandelson you can just say you "forgot to dot a few i's and cross a few T's" on your mortgage application and everthings OK.

yes i still own a house, i lost the other one due to getting divorced..

if i recall, the goverment at that time actually understood the concept of divorce, and the costs that parents had to accept, and tax breaks were granted..

Try reading my posts a little more - I'm no real fan of the current governemnt, but even less so of the previous one - he's no more mine than yours - that's so called democaracy for you. As far as I can see we're screwed no matter which lot you vote in (I say 'you' as I shan't be bothering - what's the point of voting of there's nothing to vote for).
