Default What a start to the year!

So, here's the deal. I've always had one rather large ******** and it's never been a problem, until, say a week or so ago, when I've been becoming more and more concious of the size and the pain that comes about once in a while. So, I go to visit the doctor. Now, at this point, I'm fairly certain that I'm able to feel something that shouldn't be there, so the alarm bells start going off in my head.

By the time I'm there, I've worked myself into a complete state and convinced myself that he'll find a cancerous lump. He had his feel around (rather gently, might I add) and said that he thought we were able to rule out cancer, and rather he thought the problem was with my 'tubing', either some sort of infection or cysts perhaps growing/forming within them.

Either way, he states that there's only so much that his hands can feel, so he fits me in for an ultrasound today to try and clarify things a little. So, I've had that done today and now have to wait 7-10 days for the results. The doctor who did the test didn't actually tell me to leave once he'd finished, so I wasn't sure if I was able to go. While waiting for him to return (which he never did), I had the chance to see the six 'photographs' that the scan produced, which all looked rather confusing. What I think I could see was that the tubing going towards the ******** was white in areas, while the rest of the scan appeared grey, or there abouts. Hopefully that's a positive sign, but I'm no doctor.

I have been very impressed with the NHS so far, the initial appointment to see the doctor was next-day, as was today's ultrasound. Hopefully, the results will tell me that I've nothing to worry about cancer wise, and either a strong course of antibiotics or an operation will sort the problem with my 'tubing'...fingers crossed!

Even so, it seems a little selfish of me to keep constantly worrying about myself, when there's so many people dead, homeless or affected by the Asian Tsunami.

This is a serious point. Exactly why you shouldn't post it on here.

Thank you.

If they take the **** out of something like that, then I pity them. But, it's no biggie if they do.

G-Star

I hope everything goes okay and you're in the clear. If there is something "more sinister" you'll be told well before 7 - 10 days. It's a case of no news is good news.

I'm no expert but i have a mate who has had testicular cancer (about 15 years ago now) and he never had those symptoms but as i say, i'm no expert.

Good luck mate, you must have been killing yourself before you went to the docs. Good to see you had the bottle to go in the first place....... respect placing your knackers in the hands of a Doctor must be very un-nerving to say the least.

Hope all is okay

Thank you for the kind words, something I could do with at the moment.

It's one of those things where you've got no real choice - either go and get it seen to or risk it getting worse and beyond any type of control/treatment.

I think I can safely say it's been the worse few days of my life so far for me on a personal level, let's hope the results come back clear.

sounds like a hydrocil or is it hydroseal..

its, basically a cyst on the ********, which has a ball of fluid around it, its and increase of the fluid that causes the ******** to get larger.

if it is dont be too worryied. its quite common, i have one and it has been the same size for at least 20 years,, they do sometimes kick of and start to increase in size.. then a simple op to either drain or remove..

i was offered the option when i had my snip, but was advised that i would be very sore , due to having both ops, and there would be an increased risk of infection.

i left it as is... if it does need doing its only a morning op!!

Hope its all okay and you are in the clear dude.
On a side note, I hope you haven't told your workmates. One of the people in my office was off with something surprisingly similar and let it be known. While he was out the following conversation was overheard in a phone conversation.
"Hello"
..........
"No, he's not here today."
..........
"He's off with sore *****."

I appreciate all the kind words, thank you.

The doctor did say he thought that it may be epididymitis and looking at the symptoms, that could very well be the case.

The fingers, however, will remained crossed.

G-Star

Im not a newbie, im just hiding my identity

I have had Testicular Cancer, when I was 24, which is a number of years ago now (about 12 or maybe more)

Basically what happened with me was that I 'felt' something wasnt quite right and went to to Docs to get myself checked out, and my missus at the time agreed that it wasnt quite right

It wasnt swollen or enlarged, but one of them had gone hard, but with absolutly no pain at all, the Doc had a good check around (and yes they are careful, there is no need to grab them with a vice like grip). He wasnt sure of what it was (i suspect more that he didnt want to speculate at that point) so he referred me to a specialist who then booked me in for an Ultrasound

I had the Ultrasound and they didnt just check there, they checked around my stomach and chest, they said we may as well whilst you are here.

Anyway they told me it was slightly darker than the other one, and physically felt different, due to being so hard (i personally thought it had died, if they could ever do that) and because they still werent sure they decided to do an 'exploratory' op to take a better look

they told me then, that if cancerous it would be removed, well it was, but I didnt have to have any further treatment for it, other than removal of the offending one, a couple of years later I as diagnosed again as having Cancer but in my neck, and as a result I had several months of Chemo, and was on remisssion for 7 years

Whilst in Hospital, i got talking to the other patients who all had ******** related problems, one guy said one of his was swollen, and essentially it was the tubes had got twisted, and a simple op sorted that out

Mine wasnt quite a simple op, due to the way they removed it (I wont go into details on here tho)

Anyway, I hope everything works out for you, and that it is something simple, after my ultrasound everything happened so fast, in your case you are having to wait for your results, I didnt, i was in more or less that week having the op

Im no Doc, but it certainly isnt the same symptoms I had, but on the same token I have a perfect bill of health now, and have done the whole time, only during the Chemo was I actually ill

All my CT Scans, all my Blood Tests were clear every single time, the ultrasound, and examination of the ******** showed something wasnt right

You will be thankful you went to the docs, it took a lot for me to go and I wasnt going to, but if I hadnt I wouldnt have been here now

Testicular Cancer has a 95% success rate which is a good stat in my book

Fingers crossed for you,

JohnSmith

Bro' in law had testicular cancer 4 or 5 years ago, had one removed and was then all clear.
He also had his mortgage debt removed courtesy of his mortgage insurance Co as he had added "critical illness" cover!

He now lives a healthy life in a mortgage free 4 bed detached home and is now a dad too!

G Star you have pm

Sounds like you don't have a "serious" problem. When I had my ultra sound they knew there and then and booked me in for surgery the week after.

hope all turns out ok

I went thrugh this 4 years ago, ended up with 1 less spud. Now all ok but firing one one cylinder as they say.

HNS were superb

'John' - Thank you for sharing - I presume it's not too nice to bring up the past like that, but, believe me, it's appreciated very much.

You must be a very strong person indeed, to go through two bouts of cancer in the way that you did.

It does take a lot of courage to go and get it looked at, as you'll know all too well, but like you said, without you doing so you wouldn't be here today.

Thank you again.

Bob - That is very encourage news, and if worst does come to worst, I hope I'm able to follow suit and continue my life in the way your brother in law has done.

Alan - You've got a PM. Again, I really appreciate you sharing your experiences. Thank you.

I've got a rather positive update to this situation.

Without going into great detail, it appears that I've got something called a hydrocele (as Mart correctly guessed), which is basically a build up of fluid around the ********, stemming from being an infant, and therefore nothing to worry about.

If it continues to give me pain, or I just feel a little odd with it being there, then there's the option of having it drained or operated on.

Thanks for all your support within this thread and via PM's, it was very much appreciated.

Excellent news mate!

So lets get this straight, you have exceptionally large knackers due to a build up of fluid thats nothing to worry about.

I think thats a fair trade off

.......................... well i bet your missus will think so
