No-one has said they don't like the Impreza... the discussion is whether they are too common
Too Common
I think the time has come to sell my beloved WR1 and go for what IMHO is a far superior car... the EVO
I bought the WR1 from new and thought that I had joined a somewhat special group of people who love and appreciate the Impreza , but today I drove about 400 miles and I lost count of not only the Imprezas I saw, but the number of burburry wearing kids driving what once was considered a great & quite exclusive car.

I test drove the Evo today (not the 260) and what an awesome machine it is... far superior in performance, handling & bulid quality ..

Glad you prefer the performance and build of the Evo, did you try one before purchasing the WR1?

My impression from your post is that the car you buy's most important feature is the image it portrays to everyone else. If thats the case, you're the sort of customer BMW and AUDI love.
If the post is not about image, then perhaps a clarification on what the Evo offers over and above the WR! would be of interest.

At the end of the day he posted that he wanted to sell his car to buy a different one, why is he so wrong to do that? It's his money.

Alot of people have said why are so many scooby owners critising about WR1 selling his car and thinking of purchasing an EVO. Well, nothings wrong with that but if you ask for peoples opinions which you did by starting this thread, then the opinions will come as criticism as well as praise. Live with it or don't post the thread in the first place.
Just my opinion.
Just my opinion.

I think some of the replies to this thread are getting lost in the general signal to noise ratio.
Any Chance of the original poster responding to some of the points made on here?

Have to say I live just outside Hudds and i rarely see other scoobs. So the "scoobies are too comon" statement seems to be dependant on where you live. I can drive through Bradford and see at least 5 scoobies each time.

The following are 'performance icons';
- Original Mini Cooper
- ANY Porsche 911
- Mk1 Golf GTi
- Sierra RS Cosworth
- Impreza Turbo

ImprezaWR1,
I'm trying to work out how you can tell the Evo is 'far better build quality' during a test drive?
Advice is freely given here on Scoobynet, and like all of us, you can choose to take it or leave it. I was the very proud owner of a 2003 WRX PPP wich I bought brand new and drove a very pleasureable and faultless 15,000 miles. I then did what many people here do, that is I started wanting more power, more full on driving experience, I wanted a harder ride, I wanted something MORE evil, and I bought an Evo FQ 300, which, I later discovered, had more hidden rust under the bonnet and wheel arches than a 15 year old Mini. The car was replaced with an equivilent Evo FQ 300, with very low mileage, 1 owner, etc. This car also has rust spots under the bonnet, around the engine bay. The gears will not engage at high revs, the car pulls to the left very sharply, in fact, it steers to the left! I am now waiting for the Main Dealer where I purchased the car to accept my rejection, under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (ammended March 2003), and give me a full refund. Look at the welded seams on an Evo,around the engine bay area, under the wheelarches, (not sealed) and look at the welded seams on a Scooby, (all sealed and painted). The plastic used on the Evo dash is so crap, cheap and nasty feeling to touch and look at. If you tap the Evo doors, they echo to the metal outer skin. Scooby materials are far superior in quality. The Scooby, from bugeye onwards, has 5 star NCAP crash test, the best result. The Evo on the other hand has never been tested. The Evo is a nice, full on rally experience car, when it works properly, but as for build quality, the Subaru is factually better, by miles. I know I can't afford your WR1, but if I could, I would have it off you immediately! Once I have my money back i'll either be buying a brand new WRX 05 or an 03/04 STi or WRX PPP. Best car ive ever had, the Impreza.
