Bolt-on 360 bhp x 330lbft: Phase one started.
I feel a lot happier about having a go after watchng those vids. Mechanical sympathy causes me to cringe at the thought of just dropping the clutch at high revs.
Look forward to hearing how you got on.

Thanks Gerry
I will be famous
I can't stand sitting there holding the revs
I have too much Mechanical sympathy
I was trying to keep the revs up by blipping and then hold the revs for the last few seconds. Never worked out quite right though
I started off launching at about 3500 revs and increased it by 500 each run. I couldn't bring myself to rev it as high as some were suggesting (5-6k). I was trying to be smooth as I still had the std UK 5 speed fitted!!
I didn't have the revs when I tried one launch and you can hear my "frustration" in one of the in car vids
I so want to try it again now I have watched the vids and have fitted the 6 speed.

Excellent videos. The ones of Pavlo's car looks phenominal the way it just takes off. Mind you, white is the quickest colour

Practice day:
4500 blip blip blip = 2.30 for the 64 feet.
5500/6000 steady and dump the clutch = 2.30!
Last run gave me a final time of 59.69 secs for the mile long hill, but last meeting there I got 59.64 with a 2.10 start, so some improvement.
Two people taken to hospital, one very bad, after two 'offs' which sobers you up a bit...Tyre walls/armco and bloody big trees are a condition of fast hill climbing
Time for a real go tomorrow.

Consistency will win the day even if you cant find those extra 10ths from a better start.
Well done.

Carlos: No pics, the wife wasn't at the meeting this time.
Floyd: Yes, 2.6! 26 would be a suicide note...
One of the big Judd engines single seaters pulled 1.7 64 foot times (and did not win)and the same car/driver has pulled 1.65 before, quickest 64 foot time ever in hill climbing, so the start line was ok (for him)
Prescott hill climb in 2 weeks time where I've clocked 2.05's regularly. The starts are not everything, but it is an easy 2 tenths to gain.
The '407 bhp' is taking some getting used to, the first start yesterday (2.49) had all 4 tyres spinning.
I used the ice cubes in the TMIC bottle trick and quenched the TMIC itself with very cold water.
I was luck in that I was 2nd car up the hill in my batch so no heat soak in the TMIC so very cold air off the start line, more than I'm used to.
The car will light-up a wheel (or 2 ) in the bends powering out....
Yikes.
For possible interest:
1st practice: start = 2.31 sec/split time = 23.37 secs/Time = 60.04 for the hill
2nd practice:start = 2.38 sec/split time = 23.50 secs/Time = 59.69
1 race run: Start = 2.49 sec/split = 24.07 secs/Time = 60.76
2 race run: Start = 2.27 sec/split = 23.34 secs/Time = 60.29
Split time is about half way up the course of the hill climb.
Must try to drive it better.
Graham.

If that guy wanted air to be blown through that IC, he'd better turn the fans round!
As in flip them over, not make them spin round, lol

Full weekend of hill climbing today/tomorrow.
Been playing with pressures.
Gone from 33 psi to 30 to 27 on my Kumho's and just done a personal best time but the usual crappy start!
Tyres breaking traction and screeching when full power is on!
Anyone know of stickier tyres and have experience of other tyre pressures?
These marks are mine......

Bog stock Sti v3 trans = no front lsd (or rear?)
Kumho's are the V70A Carlos we have in the UK, road legal and very soft.
you should see the state of them! Never seen then so 'fretted' as after yeasterday.
Will post a pic tonight.
Do Jap Sti 6 speed trans have LSD's of any sort?
Big fight today for 1st or 2nd!
It's only a game, right?

Graham, you will definately have a viscous LSD in the rear as standard and you should also have one up front...
The 6 Speeds until recently were using Surtrack front LSD, but more recently they have switched to the better helical LSD like the Quaife and Modena ATB's

I think you need to do some drag racing later in the year Graham. Elvington is quiet around september/october time, and it would give you an opportunity to do around 10 starts in a day. You could back off early to save the motor if you're concerned about that.
FWIW on the glued up track at Santa pod, I pulled a 1.51 60ft, which would translate to about 1.65 64ft with no rollout.

Thanks for coming back.
Just got back from Prescott hill climb, very hot day there.
Carlos: Those are my Kumho's.
After the races today, here is a shot of one of the fronts:

Ran all day at 27 psi, and the car was great, really stable.
I don't think those other tyres are available here (?)
Pavlo: Thanks for the idea, and I may do this at the end of the season
I manages some reasonable starts, 2.13 being the best, but got a personal best today (48.09 secs) and second in class. This bloody EVO screwed me @ 46.7! (and his starts were 1.88secs, fastest EVER for a road tyre road car....)

Thrashed hell out of the car today, fastest motoring I've ever done, and the starts were very very hard. Gearbox and AP Organic solid as a rock so far, so 6 speeder hard to justify to the wife yet.
AndyF thinks the diffs could be good (if i have them) is there an easy way to find out?
Lost a lot of 1/10's with wheel spin today.
Ran with tons of ice cubes in the TMIC water spray to chill heat soak, but it was a loosing battle..
Only 4 more events and the season is over!
Leading the Class in both Championships so far, but the EVO is unbeatable. He was programming the sensitivity of the boost controller this lunchtime

Top tip for keeping warm in the garage whilst standing still: wooly hat. Just come in after far too many hours standing over the lathe and i never really felt the cold. Star-jumps whilst on screw-feed are also good.
