When you mentioned your melted dump valve in Anglesey, was that at Ty-Croes?

I've often wondered whats it's like round there now. I did a few rallies there in the early nineties before it was all re-jigged etc.

I wonder if they are able to cater for club meets?

i was the driver of the white MK II, i feel your comments were a little harsh. The RS 500 driver seemed a little too close all the way through the corners, i was late on the brakes, if was on the right of me, sorry, could really see what happened..but no overtaking round the bends and too the right. if he was too close, not my fault, its was a track day not a race. i didn't get a talking too as i asked an offical who was in the wrong, they didn't seem bothered..
I was having gearbox problems all day.. stuck in the wrong gears at the wrong times..
but not at that point i was just late on the brakes.

What were you drivin.

Spoke to harvey gibbs about melting my dump valve, his reply was quite simple "what the 'ell you got a dump valve for, its a group A turbo you've got now so get rid of it". Anyone want a nice and shiny bailey dump valve, slight heat damage LOL

Anglesey is the old tye groes track. All i can say is that it is a must do circuit. It is only 1 mile long but its one hell of a busy mile.

Its very like cadwell park in places with lots of elevation changes. It has completely blind corners and a fantastic series of varying radius right handers that if you get right flows into one big corner like gerards at mallory.

The corners just before the pit straight are a real challenge to get the exit speed onto the straight, there is a nasty bump just at the clipping point on the left hander onto the pit straight that kicks my back end out into a cracking slide.

definately a great track for high power cars and imprezas, richards 22B looked awesome round there.

for shear fun i think it is the best track i have ever driven on, cadwell being very close behind.

There is bugger all run off though so needs treating with respect if you are a new track driver. It suited my car down to the ground as top speed was only 110MPH range so the aerodynamics didnt really come into it.

i did it with tracksense and thought it was very well organised.

Without doubt, the best way to change gear is with the gear stick.
Seriously though, the way I launch is basically to rev the engine between 5,500/6,000 revs. When the light changes or you want to go, floor the throttle whilst at the same time lifting the clutch. I know it sounds obvious, but you want to apply the throttle at the same rate you lift the clutch. I'm sure there's a technical term for all this, but I'm buggered if I know what it is!
When it comes to gear changes, just change as quickly as possible making sure you're accurate. I personally don't do 'flat-changes', as my gearbox is a bit too notchy.
If I can manage 4.5 secs to 60 in the wet, and a best 1/4 mile of 13.2 secs with a UK car, my method can't be too bad?

Just re-read my post and I agree my comments were a lot harsh. The RS500 driver told me you had been ticked off, obviously wrong. Please accept my apologies, I was in a bit up a mood cos I'd just warped my brand new brake discs again! One of the curses of driving a Scoob.

If he was too close through corners perhaps it was because you were holding him up a bit mate. I know he went for it on the wrong side into Priory but to be honest he was getting a bit fed up with 2 of us breathing down his neck when he could have gone faster.

Mike, Scoobs can do sideways action too, just takes a bit more skill than your Cossie.

my Santa Pod experiance was very bad
1/4 mile in 15.2secs!! best line speed was 92.3mph!

could you e-mail me with some 0-60 tips please someone!
