Mark,

If you go to page 4, post no 73, i have already posted some pics of the d/v connection for someone else.

Hope it helps.

Andy.

Thanks Andy,

Looks like my options are to buy a MY98 recirc (Forge or standard) and the silicone pipe you bought, or the adapter flange for my existing one, as Andrew C posted. Looks like I would have to sleeve it with silicone hose too.

Got a pic of the pipe going into the drivers side wing? Need to see if the APS will fit

Mark,

Once the fmic pipe goes through the inner wing there is not alot of room, unless you want to cut the inner wing to accomadate the APS, but IMO it will not fit.

Andy.

MB - How much use is a 98 plastic re-circ (OEM) d/v to you ?

I'm some way off, but I could post it to you - I don't want anything for it - but would rather hang on to it if you don't want to use it ...

I run a Hybrid FMIC, but don't use any D/V now...

Harvey / AndrewC - Do you use any mesh in front of the Hybrid ? - I've always had some, but (as in my other thread) someone's backed a towbar into my car today and damaged the number plate, grill and I/C. I can straighten the I/C but will need to replace / remove the mesh. I prefer the look/benefit of no mesh, but aren't sure how much punishment the I/C will get (I do 3000 miles / month, 50/50 dual-carriageway and country A-Road) - I notice in Harvey's pics that there isn't a mesh ?

Cheers,

Mark

I don't use any mesh, but then I don't use my car everyday so it's not an issue. Harvey's has done a fair few miles now and seems to be still working fine

Andrew...

Thanks Andrew - I'm 'meshless' since last Sunday...

While you gents are on - does the vertical part of the return hardpipe (between the N/S head and the radiator) make changing the cam belt any more difficult - mine's due in a couple of weeks and I'm considering any extra cost - e.g bumper removal !

Harvey just out of interest, how much butchering would it take to get on the New Age kit?

I have not fitted one or seen one in the flesh yet so I cannot say for sure but nothing drastic I would think.
I do think that a lot of rubbish is talked about cutting the bumper to make a space for the FMIC. It may seem like a daunting task to some people but I think those that have done it will say it was no big deal.

As Harvey says it's no big deal, at the end of the day it's only a bumper and not structural metal work thats being cut, and when you can replace the bumper for 130 pounds or so it's a small price to pay for the effect a FMIC has on the stability/reduction of the charge temps.

Andy.

if this second link does not worik as it should, copy and paste into your address bar. also would like to add that i made a cold air shield out of aluminum to keep the air filter cool, and it worked brilliantly.

thought you guys might like to see the results of the Hybrid on my MY93 wrx wagon SA.

it isa big intercooler and flows ever so well. in the height of summer, running 1.2 bar i never recorded an inkae temperature figure above about 35 degrees C irrc on the move, going hard through every gear.

even at idle after a savage run, it never crept above the high 40's.

its an excellent piece of kit, none of you will be disappointed! its an **** to fit, but i am sure that the methods are getting better what with this being GB no. 5 (irrc i was invovled in GB 1).

Harveys a top bloke for getting these into the country, nice one mate, hard at it still!

i now run over 1.5 bar via scooby ecu style remapping, with 550 cc injectors etc and the car pulls brilliantly. i have no idea what power it is making, but the **** dyno says its bloody good!

the great thing is that this intercooler will be able cope with whatever your desired future mods and it is a bloody good price IMO.

Just thought i would add my two pence.

all the best with fitting them chaps.

Have been in contact with Harvey myself and am taking a trip to Darlington sometime in April for a FMIC and ported headers to be fitted...

I failed O-level DIY so am having them fitted by Harvey ... i think it's great that he is offering a fitting service as well ...

I will post some pics after the job is done...
