If you have fitted an AVC-R to control the boost then you need to uncheck the "boost control kit" option in the Power FC otherwise it will be trying to control the boost even although you presumably have disconnected its sensors ? hence the CEL.

Andy,
I have gone into the etc on the Power FC..
Is has a boost option, but the setting to change is in Japanese??
It would only allow me to change the options between 2 shapes...the opposite to the current shape is a t written the other way round.
I have changed this; however the CEL is still on?

That's Y and N in Japanese lol, you want the same shape as set on the airflow and injector warnings.
Have you unplugged the boost control kit cable from the side of the ECU ? You need to do this.

ECL Still on...Solenoid Duty?
Okay
On the PowerFc, I have set the boost to the Y setting, which is the same as the Airflow and injector warning.
I have also taken out the cable from the ECU that goes to the engine bay.
I am able to control the boost from the Avcr…
The solenoid Duty on the AVCr does not show any values, its sitting on 0.00%. Is this correct?
Not sure what else to try….
Andy I have emailed you the pictures I took from my phone…
Next to the Apexi Solenoid there is a small block, which has two couplers going to it. These I believe are the couplers coming from the cable from PowerFC that I have now disconnected. Also on the bottom side of the Connector block, there is a small hose going to another connector just below it.
The connector below the PFC connector, I think may be the Original Solenoid? (not sure as I don’t know what one looks like. There is a small hose connecting from here to the PFC connector. I have tried disconnecting the coupler from this and connected it back…
But no difference the ECL is still on.

with a 99 avc-r you cant have the engine speed (revs) function displayed at the same time as the injector duty I think.
therefore I have my commander displaying the injector duty, water temp, airflow and knock. On my avc-r I have boost and revs displayed.
of course I could be wrong about your MY but certainly the above is true for phase 2 cars.

yesterday I removed the OE boost solenoid and all the associated pipework, to give the engine bay a bit of a de-clutter
I noticed that I got a CEL when I took the OE solenoid out and so just made all the solenoid electrical connections.
bingo, out goes the CEL.
I remembered a thread about it on here a while ago.

Okay after hours in the garage this is what i found:
Next to the new Apexi Solenoid there is a connector that has two Couplers going to it, also a tube going to the Manifold. The other end of one of the coupler went to the original Solenoid. (which I have replaced by the new Solenoid)
When I disconnect the couplers from the connector below the Solenoid, the PowerFc stops displaying the boost reading. However my ECL comes on!
Have done the following:
Disabled the Boost Control Kit from the PowerFc
Disconnected the Connector on the Apexi Ecu that goes to the engine Bay
Connected both Couplers to the Unit below the Solenoid.
ECL now has gone off….
Not sure what is going on, but I will take some pics as its left me totally confused!
Could the Connector below the solenoid be the original Solenoid? (but it has 2 couplers going to it?
l
Also:
The boost Reading on the PowerFC is at idle –479
The Boost Reading on the AVCr is at Idle –501
Not sure why there is a difference, as both connect to the Manifold…

Hi
I have just bought a Apexi AVCR for my import Subaru Imperza wrx. 1994 model.
Can anyone help me by emailing me a wiring diagram and help how I set it up under the bonnet? The kit i have bought has no instructions.
Email address is barry.blanchard@talktalk.net
Thank you very much.
