Well I figured there were enough people going who I know anyway and it's always interesting to meet people who appreciate the driving rather than the posing

We will have to plan plenty of photo stops Chris What are you like for memory cards?

I've only got a single 1gb card at the mo', but looking to get maybe a 5gb or a couple of 1gb's at the end of this month.
I was thinking of bringing along the wifes laptop, and storing everything on there, so no worries, but not sure if I can be bothered with lugging that everywhere

Yep, the idea of lugging everything up & down from the village every day means i will probably be travelling light. Just me MiniTrekker, 2 Cameras, 6 lenses, filters, tripod, 3 batterries etc. etc. Only got a 512Mb & the 1Gb at the mo so may get a new one nearer the time, prices are dropping every week

I'll be looking at ebay soon, maybe getting something from the states shipped over. I'll give you a ring if I see any "buy 1 get 1 free" offers

I'm after a microdrive for my pda, which I could also use in my camera, last time I looked, I could have got a 5gb one for about £250. Hopefully they're a bit cheaper now

chris.

CW: lol Your idea of travelling light is a bit like mine

Suffice to say, I should have *plenty* of storage with me, in case anyone gets caught short...

As long as nobody get's offended when I pull out my Fuji Finepix 4800 to take snapshots or see what the exposure is like

I still find it usefull when setting up shots as you can see what you are gonna get (not what your eye sees). I still find the Screen on the 300D way to small to see what you have taken. Apparently there are A4 size preview screen thingies avaliable but I assume they are mostly used in studio work for 'client preview'.

I think I might need another bag for the camcorder, PDA, GPS, chargers, LCD monitor, CD player, Voice recorder, Memory Stick, Laptop, MP3 Player, etc. etc.

I'm still looking into a carpc setup for mine. In which case I'll be able to download my daily images to the hard drive on. That looks well mint though, and not too shabby a price either. Still looking for cheap 5gb cf cards/microdrives for my pda at the mo'

I need to stop looking on this thread

the roads
the views
the photo opportunities
and meeting you lot

Would have been very happy to tag on behind in the remapped, 2WD Fabia (tho sure you all wouldn't LOL). Negotiating final deadlines on 15mth work project which are happening approx the same time as this trip Originally, 1st to 12th Sept was the best time for my summer hols.

Will be SO pee'd off if the original dates stand grrrrrrrrr
Hi MissyC

What are you referring to by 1st - 12th being ok for you please?

If you needed to be back in the UK on the 12th then it could be done. I know that Stormy is planning to come back a day early (on the 12th) due to commitments. But will miss the whole day on the Nurbrgring - but still might get out in the morning and there is the evening of the 11th too.

If you need any more info then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Cheers

Terry

What Christine meant, if she will forgive my clarification, was that she was originally gonna be fine for 1-12th Sept, but since then her work commitments have changed for the worse, which means she now can't make it

Are you also arranging the servicing for the Evo boys between countries? Those cars don't go very far without needing to have an oil change, filter cleaned... might not be able to last the distance

Ah, hang on, I get it now -- the 18 wheeler bringing all the camera gear can also be used to store parts as well!

STI-Frenchie - look forward to meeting you - you did me a favour once. If you happen to have a means of obtaining back issues of SUB magazine, I would be happy to buy off you when we meet. I have tried writing to the address in the mag for back issues and they never respond. Obviously don't want to send to UK.

Cheers

Keith

Hi Keith! How are you doing? I mix your user name with someone on here called Krade so sorry for not making contact earlier in the thread!

About the back issues, I'm not sure if they sell them but I'll check in the magazine and see, if they do I can order them for you. If not, I have 9 or 10 issues which I can let you have for free. It's a bit stupid of them not to accept subscriptions outside of France (at least that's what the form in the mag would suggest) as they print prices on the cover for Belgium, Switzerland, and Dom-Tom so they must have an "overseas" readership.

Tell you what, a mate of mine, WRX427 had his motor featured in the magazine not so long ago so he might have the contact details of the girl who interviewed him. If so, I can call her and ask her about a UK subscription. Next time I see him, I'll ask him. He might also be up for the Stelvio run. Looking forward to seeing you in September!

I reckon a service before we go is a good idea for everyone, not just the Evo boys
