So they are other variants of the scooby coming out then?
I have the 04 sti and long for the DCCD, but if there are other variants out it might be worth me waiting for a while for something with more differences to it.
Any further info on what they may be offering?
cheers,
andy

Nothing we know about - although there are a few special editions based on the MY04 out in Japan. Nothing worth getting too excited about IMHO. Spec C WR-Limited is probably the most exciting - have a look on http://www.subaru.co.jp
Personally I wouldn't now expect anything very new until a completely new car comes out. The current Impreza is about to begin its 5th year - I'd expect few changes for MY06 and maybe a whole new car for '07. Now is a good time to buy IMHO - but if you already have an '04 STI it's not really worth upgrading.

All this is ok BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love WR Blue dont get me wrong and I love gold wheels but it has to be time for a change for me next time so WHY only blue trimmed seats everywhere.
Why not a black option aka WR1??
Lets face it a silver car with blue seats and gold wheels is pretty ****!!!
Only a white car would work I think really.
Why no nice WR1 coloured wheels???
Spec apart from that looks interesting.
What tyres has it got fitted??

Oh and does it have the quicker Import steering rack???
A used WR1 is looking more promising to me when they have devalued a bit more.
Or I have to say an Evo MR340 is calling!!!!!!!!
Better colour choice and interior seat quality.

I did think about leaving it as I have started my suspension upgrade with new springs so far, but really liked the DCCD idea?
Any idea on the cost of adding it now?
Or is that a really daft idea?

I note that the WRX has got some suspension upgrades. Never knew that was coming. Almost wish I'd waited instead of getting my MY04 on 1/9. I do note that they are not making any mention of climate control, just different air-con controls.

Look closely: 'Auto' position for both fan speed and air vent control. Dial in the temperature you want, leave on 'auto' => climate control.

A few daft questions. I want a new STI, up till today I wanted a JDM, but now I am a little confused. Are the options on the 05 UK car the same as the JDM ? I mean the spec C suspension, quick rack, twin scroll blower ect.
And why in the Subaru press release does it say :
The STI is designated and badged ' type UK ' to distinguish it from unofficial imports which DO NOT have the additional features standard on the British version '

The UK car is much closer to the JDM than in previous years. The suspension, and interior are the same and you get DCCD.
The JDM car is still unique in having the twin scroll turbo (and a more advanced engine to bolt it to as well), plus HID lights, rear wash/wipe, electric folding mirrors and quick rack. The gear ratios in 5th and 6th are a bit shorter in the JDM car.
The additional features to which Subaru are referring are:
- Euro type-approval compliant engine. They refer to this as though it's a good thing; the JDM engine is much more flexible and powerful. Why anyone would choose the Euro engine - and you do have the choice - is beyond me. Marketing at its best!
- Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser and tracker. Easy to fit and installed as standard anyway by most importers.
- locking wheelnuts. Clearly a unique and expensive feature that can't possibly be added by anyone willing to pop into Halfords with £20
- underseal. Again, present on the JDM car and upgraded to British salty-spec by most importers. Or you can do it yourself with a few hours and a tin of gunk, but I'd let the garage do it. Mucky but cheap.
- 'Type UK' stickers. (Hints of desperation here?)
The warranty is the big difference, and nobody can make that decision for you. But, you may find that your local Subaru dealer will actually be more willing to service a JDM import than you'd expect. I was.

Perhaps tone it down withh a 'Blue rinse' LOL The cloth on the doors is such and improvement been in a 2.5USDM and agree Black should be an option
Although the wheels are 1/2" wider, the tyres are still 225's IIRC

the spec changes are one thing but as those who have will know.......to buy a MY05JDM STI requires.......PATIENCE.....PATIENCE and more PATIENCE......
but it WILL be worth it!
