Hi Guys
thanks again for the positive posts...
I really wanted to look at this today, but time has run away with me and I have to shoot out now..
I'll really try to drop back in at the weekend, but I have a hectic one, so please don't think I've forgoten about it if I don't respond.
Thanks again, I think we're going to get somewhere with all this, and I've had a bit of brainwave of my own also
Cheers
Simon

Well I'm sad to say that the mods have killed the Scottish forum.I feel this is a great shame as this place used to rock.
So well done on alienating an entire nation mods.......be proud of yourselves, this hasn't been done since Maggie Thatcher introduced the Poll Tax .
I authentically don't want to have a go at u(mods),I'm aware of the work and time put in by u all,but don't bother to do anything about the situation.....it's too late.
Shame.

I'm afraid you'll just have to deal with it- and maybe just learn something from it with any luck.

Oh OK Stu..
thanks for speaking for everyone. So you're saying we should not bother to listen to anyone now?
This thread has been conducted very well by those who want to see a solution. If you don't want to see a solution, I have to ask the question "what are you still doing here?".
I am not interested in those who left. They will always be welcome back, but if they prefer to use other sites, that's absolutely fine. Contrary to popular belief, we do not earn money out of traffic, so this is no skin off our noses.
I would however like to continue to do my duty by supporting those who want to stay.
Please do not degrade this thread back into a slagging match again.
Either be a part of a solution, or clear off and stop wasting my time on reply to things like this, so I spend any available time dealing with finding a solution.
regards
Simon

Simon,
I'm astonished by that last post. I think you may wish to reread and edit it. If you do, I'll remove this.
If, however, your intention was to rile and alienate the remaining visitors to this section of SN then you’ve definitely scored.
He was speaking for a majority - fact.
I didn't think he was. I do however think you've managed.
Nice one!
... now ...
I believe that to be a valid and constructive point.
Oh and while we're at it, I wasn't going to say anything but ...
... is insultingly patronizing.

well in numptie!
thing is, i really don't see what benefits are going to come of any mods or owners doing anything. the damage has been done, but before you jump in and say "clear off " or ""what are you still doing here?"." i'll say, i DO still come on......all for about 2 minutes! scootish section was where i went to, but what used to be in it has gone! and what was it that was in it?! SCOTTISH MEMBERS! who have now cleared off out. i dare say some still kick about maybe longer than i do, or just as long, but we are all sick of scoobynet....simple as that. it would be nice to see something come out of this thread in particular, but i dont see it helping any what-so-ever.

Has there not been enough slagging already.
A specifice question was asked in this thread. The posts in question were off topic. Can the last few posts, including this one just be deleted please to avoid yet another slagging match and a locked thread.
I too am annoyed about the current situation, but there's been enough arguments already to realise shouting isn't going to help.

Agreed Dave
If anyone seconds the desire to remove these posts, I'll do it.
Until then..

Regardless of whether the "learn from it" type comments are important, or realistic.. they are irelevant to this discussion.
The ins and outs of what really happened to cause all this will probably never be fully known. We have indeed learnt from it.
This thread is an attempt to support everyone who wants it. What was the point of the posts I replied to?
This was the reason for my post and the reason I asked to not have my or anyone elses time wasted on it.
Surprisingly, I could have spent the time I have used to reply to these posts by posting up a proposed solution and engaging the people who want a resolution. But instead it is indeed being wasted.
It just surprises me that even when we try to do everything we can (as we are doing right now), people still seem to want to disrupt it. Regardless of what has happened in the past, we are right now in this situation. Please finally allow us to try to sort it all out without attacking us for it.

Simon, i'm not meaning to sound impatient and was actually in two minds as to whether or not to post or PM you but here goes anyway!
This thread has been live for nearly a month now and in that time there have been many positive posts from the remaining Scottish members regarding possible ways forward for the Scottish/Events forums. To me it seems that your only input in this 'discussion' has been to silence the users deemed to be stepping out of line. I understand it would take more of your own time to physically construct a post based on the points raised but i think it would be worth while if possible as i get a very negative feeling from reading this thread through from the beginning.
There has been lots of positive points made by many members (i hope i am right in thinking they are not being ignored) and it would be nice to see just a little recognition or discussion of these points rather than the "shut up you to$$er or i'm taking my ball home" remarks. JK btw, don't ban me.
My feelings are that the Scottish ScoobyNet forum will rebuild itself over time. New users will sign up who will not be aware of the mass exodus to the SIDC and eventually a fresh community will be born. Obviously, if something isn't done now about the present situation then the same problem will eventually reoccur in several years time...
Perhaps i am being a little naive here but the thought that you have the Scottish forum exactly how you want it now (i.e. near dormant with mostly event threads from SIDC being linked to) doesn't seem too unreasonable to me? Tell me i am wrong lol.
My understanding is Regional forums could be used as a means of solving the problem as was suggested. However, in my eyes this still wouldn't satisfy the stated ScoobyNet requirement of integrating every thread, no matter how much/little relevance it bears to the rest of the community, into the community. Surely the only way forward is to ease up on the requirement that the whole forum must be able to view each thread irrelevant of direct relevance.
Either that or scrap all the Events forums and just have one forum for all Events where everyone can see whats going on Nationwide and post their respective activities. This would lead to a more integrated community and elimanate the holes where regional cliques hide. You never know, i may find that threads normally posted in the Wales section might be of massive relevance to me and i never knew it?! Hell, with less forums you could even fire a few of those pesky Mods. Seriously, surely an events forums covering the UK would be no busier than General or NSR?

From your first post on this thread. Can you please follow your advice or this thread will indeed just keep winding you and those who want to see a resolution to this issue up and get us nowhere fast.
Feel free to ignore/delete this post if you feel yourself getting annoyed by it .

Coming over occasionally from SXOC, my opinion of scoobynet is it is very cluttered (ie the index page).
For a working concept of a Scottish section, SXOC's works extremly well, and in some ways is a community section by itself. Technical questions and car oriented posts are still kept to the main section. Whereas local chat, event ideas, planned meets, rolling road days etc are all kept in the scottish section. Some technical questions and advice are also asked (and answered) in the scottish section. It is moderated fairly well, and lightly. Probably because it's moderated by some scots mods as well so they have an idea of what should be there and what shouldn't.
Just my view point, this board in general can be a bit overcoming with all the various threads etc.

Was it you I spotted using the Scotland Forum the other day - You were the one on the Keyboard - I was just passing through.
Looks like Status quo is the decision .

There plenty thread in all forums that have gone the way of muppets or slaggin matches. I see that as the issue that needs moderation, not the categorisation of threads.
i dont know what dougster is on about with the brainwashing thing.
however, the point about too late, and that there have been discussions previously is very true.
You will see that myself and numptie said effectively the same and have refered you to posts already made.
The traffic through the Scotland forum I imagine will be alot lower now due to people going to the sidc site - that is what makes me think that its too late.
There is a post on the sidc site that refers back to this one.

Yep.
No one is really interested anymore. We have other things to think about now and other places to congregate.
A pity, but not really worth worrying about anymore.

Common sense suggests that if they leave the forum alone then it will regenerate out of newbies etc in a relatively short time spell.
Most of us Scots would appreciate those in charge actually telling us that they have reached that decision, but I guess we are not worthy
