Dave,
I would *definitely* have both spoilers if they used the original mounting locations, didn't require additional drilling and didn't need a tube of glue.
Again, without repeating myself, i'm just *amazed* that your guy Simon doesn't already have the information that you're supplying him. How can ANYONE get into the replica manufacture business without an appreciation of how the originals were attached?? My mind boggles. If i had the ability to make bolt-off bolt-on STi replacement spoilers for the wagon, i'd sell cart-loads. It's pretty damned simple, surely??

All these pictures of STi spoilers make me excited
Like a mini-organism

If it happens useing origina lbrackets /no glue
i will probably go for top and middle spoilers
<sneaks off with the pictures and the kleenex >

I have uploaded some diagrams in the form of a web page for Simon and the factory to look at. The diagrams are a little sketchy, but give the critical dimensions.
If you are interested, this can be found here.
I did not make a note of the stud threads and lengths on the waist spoiler, this information will be provided at a later date if required. If someone out there knows this information, please post it up here.
I have said though that I do not think it will be possible to produce the roof spoilers held on by four fixing points, it would be very difficult to produce covers for over the nuts on the top of the spoiler due to the fact these will be made of a fibrous material rather than injection moulded plastic which has a uniform thickness.
I'll keep you up to date with progress as it is made!

on pg7 BuRR has a great picture on how these should fit, waist spoiler shouldn't just be a glue on,you can see the bolt hole's so why hasn't the replica got the same fixing's
on CeeDee's picture's the recess underneath is where the bolt goes on to your exsiting original bracket's
pg11 speedydaveb,to me the bolt is in a totally wrong place, that part of the spoiler just rest/glued to rear window
if your estate scooby has got the small rear spoiler on then these should near enough a simple bolt-on spoiler as you already have the bracket on the rear window
as the other guy say's if he is selling these he should be a bit more clued up on what he's selling, clicked on link for bracket template's,size's ?? still sratching me 'ed

You're right, DJ73, i don't understand it either.
By the way, though this isn't the time or place, plurals never need apostrophes. It's one hole, two holes, one fixing, two fixings for instance. HTH

I have a MY00 UK spec Turbo so mine already has the small roof and waist spoilers.

I had another look at the photos you provided of it. I reckon the location of the screw you can see is just a storage location for the screw, the screw should be removed and moved to the indent as shown by the arrow in this photo.
The top edge of the spoiler should then be glued to the screen. I take it this spoiler does fit over the existing brackets without having to remove them (middle bracket to be removed obviously)?
How much do you want for it and how much will it cost for P&P?
If I do buy it, I'll still be in this group buy for the waist spoiler though and will carry on trying to organise it.

Call it £65 and it's yours. It aint heavy, so postage shouldn't be bad.

I have just asked Simon for an update on the situation with these spoilers and will let you know what he says.
I have added another person to the list from Subaru-Impreza.org also.
1) Speedydaveb - roof spoiler and waist spoiler
2) CeeDee - Waist spoiler only (since i already have a roof spoiler)
3) harvsta74 - roof spoiler only
4) VTSuby1 (from Subaru-Impreza.org) - roof spoiler and waist spoiler

6) TelBoy - waist spoiler - (only if bolted on)
7) lordharding - TBA
8) Benno - roof and waist (if fixings sorted)

Sorry it has been a while since we have made any progress, I will try and get something more done this week.
I had the following reply from Simon:
(read in conjunction with the pic at
)
It's not too good. Taking a more detailed look at the bracket from Burrs pictures, the green arrow points to a part that might slot into the spoiler or act as a resting point for added strength. If it's a resting part for the spoiler then this should be OK. Also the factory mentioned that the from the sketches itself it will not be possible to add screws 100% correctly so there will still be a possibility screws will be slightly out when fitting the spoiler to the bracket. Take a look at the picture below for other points we need to consider:
Green arrow:
this looks like the resting edge for the spoiler or slot that goes into the spoiler?
Red arrow:
this is the nut that secures the spoiler onto these brackets. The bolt will go up through the spoiler and then be tightened from the top of the spoiler. This will not work on the replica because this nut/bolt will push up against the underside of the spoiler. Also if we specifically make holes to cater for the nut and bolt, metal plates will need to be added otherwise the nut will just tighten and rub against the material of the spoiler and will result breaking.
Yellow Arrow:
these look to be positions where the screw on the replica spoiler can be fixed to the bracket but I cannot be sure how high this part sticks out from the bracket and therefore how close a fit the spoiler is to the glass but there will bound to be a gap
I think the next step is to see what other people can offer us. I will ask DR Motorsports and ETS Racing and another place I found in Scooby Magazine that I cannot remember the name of. I will ask for both prices and for details of how they fix onto the car to see if we can get something more like we are after off the shelf.
For quotation purposes I will say that the group buy will be for 7 roof spoilers and 6 waist spoilers, though say that the quantities may be subject to change.

Full Marks for perseverance Dave.
I really hope you can find someone to do them, I reckon if you can find some that mount to original brackets we'll get loads more than 6 or 7 but a good number to start with.

I can't believe that no one in the UK makes a replica bottom spoiler!
I'm interested in getting on board too if it will help.
DRmotorsports top spoiler looks interesting seen as you can have it supplied and painted for £200, wonder what they could do for a group discount. Again it depens on if these use all 4 mounting bolts or just the 2 bottom ones and need glueing at the top.
I'm possibly interested in both spoilers depending on fitment and final cost

I have just sent the following email to both ETS Racing and AWD Motorsport (found in Scooby Magazine):
Hi there,
I am in the process of arranging a group buy on ScoobyNet for the WRX STi rear spoilers for the classic shape impreza wagons. We have already been involved in discussions with one supplier, though since these spoilers do not use the original fixings some people are not keen to use them.
Please can you tell me the following:
a) How your roof (and waist spoilers if you can do them) are fixed to the car
b) what material they are made out of
c) what prices you can do them for (including VAT and P&P - so far we have interest for 7 roof spoilers and 6 waist spoilers)
Best regards,
Dave B
Note that the spoiler that DR Motorsport supply is actually made by ETS Racing, hence I have not asked them to quote. If people would prefered them sprayed maybe we could speak to DRM at a later date (if we find the ETS product is suitable)
Will be in touch once I get a reply back, I want to get this group buy sorted!
