WRX STi Classic wagon rear spoilers
They fit on brackets that clamp around the side of the rear screen.
Here are some pics, which show the difference between the spoilers.

Hopefull this will show you the differences.

Nice pics BuRR, certainly shows the differences clearly!

Here is the information on the STI lights. They are genuine Subaru STI lights that the supplier has got the factory to make a special one off run for. There are conditions that need to be fulfilled (see below) but we can get these for the one time only, special price of £193.00 - includes delivery to the UK (other countries, please ask for confirmation)

i) Minimum order quantity: 20 sets
ii) Quantity can be made up by Classic Impreza or Wagon lights (lights are different for these models)

Nice pics, BuRR - you were *very* lucky.
Johnny - YHPM.
All - questions about these replacement spoilers then.
1. Does the replica top spoiler use the same mountings as a WRX top spoiler? Surely they're only talking about drilling holes for people who have no spoiler whatsoever - not the people who are swapping WRX for STi versions, right?
2. Can the replica waist spoiler be adapted to be able to use the same fixings as the WRX version? Looking at BuRR's pictures, it looks like they are press-in fixings rather than nuts and bolts - is this correct? The STi waist spoiler is a big old bird, an i too wouldn't want to rely on glue alone to fix it, no matter what the maufacturer claims. One "accident" and off it comes, with a nice chunk of paintwork too. Not ideal.
3. When these spoilers are painted up, do they look as good as the finish on the originals?
4. Is this company the *only* one that produces STi wagon replica spoilers?
cheers,
Tel

These are for the roof spoilers, the DRM one is £200 and the ETS one is £125. Neither of these companies do the waist spoiler though.
I think we should go back to Simon and say that we are only interested in these spoilers if they will fit to the original brackets (as we were originally lead to be beleived), even if this will incurr a small charge for doing so. The spoilers are made to order, so this should be possible. This will be improving their product also as most people would prefer a 'drop in replacement' rather than one you have to glue or drill holes in your car to fit.
I don't mind drilling a couple of holes through metal and welding up the original ones for the waist spoiler, but there is no way I want to drill through the rear windscreen to mount the roof spoiler, these must mount to the original holes.
Are we all agreed with this?
p.s. Please do not discuss the original STi rear spoilers on this thread, these spoilers are not the original STi version, just a close copy, and I do not wish to cause confusion with the original types being discussed. Thanks.
Dave,
When you say "close" copy - how close, do you know?? I was under the assumption these were basically replicas. No?
Secondly, are you *certain* that the roof spoiler does NOT use the same mounts as the WRX version? From what you've said it sounds as if this is the case, but are you 100% certain that your guy, when referring to drilling holes, means those people for whom there has been NO top spoiler in the first place? It seems crazy to me that he would manufacture a replacement that required holes in different places to the original!
As far as the waist spoiler goes - yes, if the mountings were more substantial than a tube of glue, i'd definitely be interested, pending my first point about how close to OEM shape these actually are.
cheers,
Tel

I'm with you, SpeedyDave, if they can be made to use original fixings, and normal STi fixings on waist spoiler ( even though I will need to drill here as my WRX wagon has only the top spoiler! ) then I am ok with a small increase in price, otherwise I shall have to drop out I am afraid.
Thanks for all the work so far though, appreciated.

Johnny, i'll have to e-mail you later, if still required. Hopefully your pictures will answer my questions though!! I assume, since you've been taking pictures of it, that it's not currently winging its way down the M1 to me?!!

Please can you also measure the distance between the mounting studs on your spoiler and I will take the one off my car and see if it is the same.
I do not know how close a copy/replica they are as I have not seen one myself, from the information I was originally given I thought that they would be as close as any other replica spoiler but had the advantage of using the original mounting points.
I have just sent Simon the following email:

I hope you can accomodate our request,

Hopefully he can help us out and we can try and drum up some last minute interest, finalise numbers and get them ordered.
Dave,
I've seen the pictures. It's not a case of taking measurements - the fixing bolts are in *totally* different positions, unfortunately.
What i'd like to know, is who actually buys these spoilers, if it involves drilling a toughened glass rear windscreen to accomodate them. I still cannot understand what the reasoning behind manufacturing them in this way is...

I have just received a reply back from Simon...
Hi Dave,
"(as we were originally lead to be beleived)" Not being funny, but when did I say that the spoilers would fit the original brackets?
There seems to be a lot of uncertainties, I had a quick look at the thread a few days ago and it seems BURR has the spoilers already? I think best to send both to him for comparison before we continue with this GB?
Please ask if BURR will do this and I'll arrange to send him the roof and waist spoilers for evaluation. Tell him to contact me with his address and I'll arrange to the spoilers to be made.
Best regards,
Simon
A bit of a misunderstanding on the fitting tho, I asked:
I am still very interested in getting a WRX STi classic wagon rear spoiler,
and are enquiring as to how they are fitted to the car, is it glued on or
does it retain the original mounting brackets?
Some of the aftermarket ones I have seen are just glued on, I am hoping you
will say these are screwed on.
To which Simon replied:
These spoilers definitely have to be bolted on and not just your ordinary stick on ones.
Make your own mind up!
BuRR - Would you be interested in helping this group buy out and compare STi Racing's spoilers with the genuine article? I have PM'd you Simon's email address if you are able to assist.
I have uploaded pictures of STi's roof spoiler to the following server (thanks to Johnny50 for these):

Why is nothing ever straighforward!

Well guys...i don't know if this will help any1 but...
I have replica STi roof spoiler and my version of replica spoiler uses 2 (out of 4) existing original screws (for small roof spoiler), lower ones (as there are no holes on top for other 2 screws) and is glued to rear window...it's on for a more than a year and i never had any problems with it...
Original small spoiler removed ->

Replica big one installed with using two original mounting points plus glue ->

Speed it can take without problem ->

I can take some more pictures of same spoiler mounted on my 98my wagon i have now...
Hope this helps...
btw. I'm still interested in waist spoiler and wagon sti rear lights...any1 else?

If you want me to register your interest for you on the P1 site, let me know. This also goes for anyone else interested in the lights and doesn't like filling in forms!
I'm still interested in the spoilers, just been a bit busy with other stuff to follow this up more, got the gearbox half off as I am trying to change the clutch (yes I know it would have been quicker to lift the engine out, but I didn't know this at the time!!!!).
I will send Simon an email tonight and ask him if they definately cannot supply the spoilers with bolt fixings and then have a re-count on what is required for the group buy.

If you say the best they can so is having the top ones held on by the two bolts underneath the spoiler and having the waist spoiler bonded on only then I will have a word with the guys and get some final numbers.
It's about time we finalised things, I have to admit I have been busy changing (or should that be trying to change) the clutch on my scoob and so haven't been pushing this much recently.
Thanks,
Dave

I will have a go at removing my spoilers this weekend and draw up a plan of where the bolt holes should be and email it across to Simon.
