We were in a 5 star hotel as well, some poor bloke had to leave his brand new 360 modena parked outside,it was right in the middle of the roughest city i've ever had the misfortune to visit.
Short helicopter trip to monaco for the grand prix tho and it was a different story

Some things have improved though.Treatment of minorities and Rights of consumers are two of them.
The biggest change is the growing inequality and the growth of a "poor" culture amongst those at the bottom. There is a totally separate way of life emerging for them.Cash-converters,cash for cheques, employment agencies, crap cars(uninsured probably) and dependancy on benefits.
Totally different to the 2 holiday per year, him a 320 her a new beetle,2 kids, after school activities and buy a house to let when they go to uni.

Education needs to be sorted imo first off. The education standards in this country aren't great unless it's private/grammar. The political correctness schools have to adhere to is an absolute joke.
The lack of the ability for schools to discipline encourages a total lack of respect. Pupils don't have to worry about being punished because they're not allowed to be, they get away with murder in school and this becomes "normal" later in life. No respect for any authority, for others or for others property.
Senior AP has hit the nail on the head re gossips etc. This country has become a nation of gossips. Magazines such as heat etc are the biggest sellers - pure gossip 5hite. Nothing of actual interest or importance. People seem to love talking behind others backs - spreading rumours, butting into business which doesn't concern them one bit, rather than concentrate on their own lifes. Gossip becomes their life, it's pathetic. Some people on here are the biggest, most vindictive gossips I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Luckily I can move on, they're still stuck in their own little self destructive worlds, unhappy unless they're making others unhappy
Also, the average british person is very arrogant and ignorant in their expectations. If expecations aren't met, the majority never do anything about it, they just sit and whinge. Gives them something else to gossip about - nothing improves bar the quantity of gossip. It's the british way of life.

Your comments are proper Bo!! .....selecta.
Nice one Craig.
Results of the actual poll say it all. I was a member of the "England is the best country in the world, everywhere else is a ****hole/developing country".....then I actually saw alot of the world and my opiniojns have reversed.
There are worse.....but there are alot better!!
Jim Davidson has emigrated to Dubai. Someonme said "why, there's nothing there". In which he replied (with a sigh) "comments like that are the reason I am leaving".
People assume Dubai is a dump. Wrong.

You're right - SN is one of the worst examples of this - just look at the Blunkett having an affair thread. Several posters on there are sitting in judgement all with their own snidy little agenda when in reality it's none of their business.

People love gossiping about others. TV like Big Brother doesn't help. Its considered "cool" to be a c.u.n.t.

Incidently, if the Internet had existed 50 years ago, I wonder how many of our Fathers and Grandfathers would have started similar threads? Quite a few I reckon. Things have certainly changed, but I don't believe that we are unique in thinking this.

The world generally by definition is not improving but England (due to massive over population amongst other things) is in a bigger, faster decline.

The Les Battersby element is rife the country over - most people simply don't see it. We, however do.

When someone says that Britains standards are declining and that they are declining at a faster rate than the rest of the world, I would have thought they would have some evidence that backs this massive claim. I have neither said I agree or disagree with the statement, but I wouldn't say something like that without at least one bit of evidence.
Eyes, lol.
