didnt craggys standard VTS do a 14.9 1/4 mile? thats much faster than the quoted 16.1
infact most hit mid 15's with ease when standard.

Mines was standard and did a 15.301 @ 89mph on my first ever 1/4m day, in a 25 degree heat (believe me the saxo likes cold air) and with really dodgy rubber up front. The point is Diablo that if you race a standard ***** and a standard VTS the driver will almost certianly be the difference and failing that you could measure the gap with your ruler.

Second, a properly sorted four-wheel-drive car like the Impreza will blitz any two-wheel-drive rival in virtually any objective handling contest, the incredible realisation being that it does so in this instance with as much - if not more - feel than any of its rivals. That's a truly astonishing result given the quality of the rest of the field.
Can people please read that with regard to future grip/handling level comments, before anyone else has a go at the impreza's general grip and handling levels around here....

Getting back on topic, having driven one regularly the saxo vts is a great car, which if driven gently when your not thrashing it can still hit 40mpg.

Does feel quicker than the 106 in a straight line, but with a lighter steering weighting which makes it feel as if it's giving less feedback from the road however.

I have to say, despite the fact I loved my MY99 Scoob to bits (Unichip, PS Bumpsteer/Alignment) and had three great years thrashing the hell out of it all over Europe, that I agree with Mooseracer's sentiment entirely.

Traction and handling are entirely seperate things, the Scoob has incredible traction but average handling in my opinion, particularly as standard from the factory.

The steering isn't very communicative (compared to Elise or 205 for example), in steady state cornering there is too much understeer (easily solved by trail braking however). I think a standard RWD E30 M3 would outhandle a box-fresh Impreza in most conditions, and I'd put my 205 GTi ahead of my Impreza for sheer entry speed and ability to power through without understeer, despite the FWD setup.

There's much more to a car's ability to go round bends than the number of driven wheels - and despite being a fantastic sub-20k car, the Scoob isn't at the pinnacle of chassis design.

And thats from tens of thousands of miles of personal experience in both. Not a days testing by journos.

Still, whe I had my Scoob, I thought the article was LOL
