All cars had to use DOT marked tyres, CRD included, Andy was running "soft" Dunlops, Team 555 ran with "soft" PZeros, CRD ran something similar but much bigger. By "soft" I mean the nearest road legal DOT marked tyre to a slick that can be found.
halldors car was awarded 177.1 on the top speed run however revs peaked at 8160 in 6th which is past that however I can't tell how far past the timing beams the car ran before lift off from the data logs. Gearing and diffs were stock JDM six speed.

WELL DONE! Andy.

Didn't realise, just changin' those seats would have made such a difference.
Had every faith in you.

Got a bit worried, when the diff seemed Ahem! wound though!
Really chuffed for yourself and barbara.(Now can I have it back)

An OK event that could have been a great event. Most of the cars there performed fantastically, but spectating viewpoints were poor. This event was redemed only by the number and quality of the cars that turned out to compete.

Andy F's Impreza was very impressive, if you blinked too slow on the light change you missed the first 1/8th - boy did that thing get away from the line.

No suprises to see the Skylines and EVO's doing so well, but the Scooby's held their own with some fine performances from all.

Well done guys.

It was a great day out, and some fantastic runs too

However whose stupid idea was it to put a playstation tent, and a wagon trailer almost right up against the fence in the spectator area

I was dissapointed with the overall facilities including the above, especially with a 20 quid entrance fee

And why was someone selling a leather sofa, and someone else selling herbal remedies !!

A grandstand or two would be good, and the one thing that should really be looked into is a gantry with times like Santa Pod, i didnt have a clue most of the time who got what time, or who crossed the line first due to the inability to get any further up the strip

Scratch,

I think you will find the scoobys did rather better than everyone on the 1/4 mile with 4 in the top 10, more than any other car. (3 skylines, 1 GTI-R, 1 Golf, 1 Evo)

I think it was a good day but have to agree that £20 per person could perhaps have run to a temp grandstand near the start? I don't know what the cost would be for such a thing but I would imagine it would make the event more saleable as more people coud see more, more of the time (or somthing like that...)

Great results from the scooby's though, at one stage I thought we were going to get mullered by the Evo's, there were loads of them!

Cheers

next year they will need a stand, even if it's a few steps running most of the way up the spect' area. The only needs to be a few feet high to make it visible for lots more people.

Chris has already said he will be adding a screen to show leader board in the pits.

What I am very dissapointed with is how we didn't even manage 3rd overall, being beated by the supra's. They arguable competed in a much easier field. Next year we will defintely have to get on top of the handling and top speed side of things. hopefully better organisation will mean better for everyone, although this year was best yet IMHO.

did anyone find the paddock area hard to negotiate because of the number of people. i found myself having to have eyes in the back of my head incase i ran someone down. apart from that i would like to thank Chris on behalf of the Northern Ireland entries and spectators for a great day.

cheers

i thought the subarus made the most progress in the last year. no one seems to have got any faster this year apart from the subarus. 4 in the top 10 is some going. respect to andy f for a superb time.

cheers

Have to agree, not counting Andy F's spot-on effort we (we meaning Scooby's not any one person) did not really show that well. Is there some way we can pull together more entries and more depth? Surely between scoobynet, the SIDC and 22b.com we can come up with say another 10 cars?

I can't believe how many Evo's and Skylines were there...

Cheers

Simon

btw - please don't take this a negative towards the guys that made it and were competing, 100% respect for anyone that got their *** on the track on the day.

I think if Haldor had been in team 22b then we may have beat the Supras ?

There may have been a lot of evos and skylines there, but from different clubs. The max per club is 10, hence the TOTB bit.

Given that racing started at 10:15 ish, i managed to get 3 drag runs in and 2 handling runs by 12:45.

It then took me 2 and a half hours to get 2 handling runs and 2 drag runs in.

Some of the Evos had 9 or 10 runs on the handling by all accounts.

Overall it was better run than last year, but the queing was a pain mid day onwards. I had been stood waiting to move in the queue for handling for approx 10 minutes, when Chris Mann asked how it was going, i told him about the queue. He went to the front, and within 5 minutes i was on the handling circuit, with 3 cars running before me.

Other than that an excellent day, i just wish myself and the car could have opporated at 100%.

Well done to Andy.F, Dwallis,Pavlo & p20spd amongst all,
It was a good day & interesting to see the cars in action after seeing , reading etc on here,
Facilities were a let down i think, for instance at the top speed run no graphical display ?? Had to throw some blades of grass up & over the cars calculate wind speed , drag, Deflection Blah Blah, Ok we had to guess

Thought the handling circuit could of been more technical & closer to the viewing area, Viewing grandstand & the Bus should of taken it's passengers down the top speed run for a death defying 2 mile sub 30 Mph thrash
Just my thoughts

I apologise, did not quite get that bit (10 cars per team)

So that suggests that perhaps we need 2 teams running with the common goal of Scooby domination? i.e. 1 team works on the 1/4 and top speed while team two does that handling circuit..? While one or two people do both (e.g. Andy F and yourelf) in order to "go for" a good personal overall score?

That way we should be able to "fight" the evo / skyline domination at the same time as getting good personal scores for the team members that like / are good at both disciplines?

Cheers

Good idea on the handling team Simon

IMO there are quite a few "mid-power" imprezas with awesome handling setups

Having seen what can be done by andy, I think we have more than enough cars with genuine horsepower to really take the fight to every other team.

I think we may struggle in top speed runs.

Exactly, it’s not just the car’s it’s the drivers too, a lot of drivers do not like dragging for fear of damaging expensive components on what is maybe their daily driver. Having a team that was more handling biased would enable them to take part and at the same time help knock back the evo and skyline dominance?

Cheers

Simon,

You say "we" didn't show that well yet we arguably dominated the 1/4m, there were more impreza's than any other car, and only nissan made 4 in the top ten with the addition of a pulsar. It's a shame that Halidorrs' car wasn't part of the 22b team.

Had I actually known how close my times on the handling circuit were I would have had another go and hope the leaking head gasket would be okay for a relatively long time (for a leaking gasket that is).

Given the relaxed attitude and privateer nature of much of the team this year, I have to wonder how we could have done if Halidorrs was in 22b team and we had just half the development of some of the EVOs out there on sunday.

seems like a plan may be hatching, i'm sure i'll come to watch next time as unfortunately my car doesn't cut it in any of the classes.

the other thing to note is that tuners cars if i'm not mistaken were up there RC developments etc. I think the scoobs did very very well. I bet the money spent on modding the scoobs was a lot less than the other vehicles.

there seemed to be more private scoobs than tuner other vehicles if you know what I mean.

Well done everyone who did runs.

If you took my total spend including car, I think you could only buy the suspension and turbo from the winning handling EVO.

Like yours Rich

I think we may struggle in top speed runs.
Agreed 6 speed is ideal for the top speed runs, but the problem being with the gearing wont get that high, or something like that?

Enjoyed the event and big thanks to Rich for finding me wandering around aimlessly (or should that be limping?!)

Out of interest was any of Team Subaru 22B.COM running Nitrious this year?

Handling wise I like mine - very impressed by it - not sure it has enough power though

As regards Nitrous I believe Kev (P1) was..

No probs mate - hope your foot heals soon, fancy dropping an engine on it

Kev was the only one using nitrous this year. It wasn't fitted to my car, but that may change.

Jason,

I agree, credit where it is due...

...of the top ten 4WD drive cars on the 1/4, FOUR of them were Subarus.

No other make had four cars there - especially not the Evos.

So yes the Evos did very well, but the Scoobs performed in a class above where they were a year ago
