Is this a Maf failing
hi guys i used to have thisproblem when i used to start my 97 wrx up usedto be lumpy abd used to hunt on idle.also when i used to drive the power used to come in surges. i did the maf testit stalled. so i got a universal lambda sensor from www.cats-direct.com. only for £47 all in now the car runs great.
Quick question on the Lamda sensor.
the one I purchased has 1 black wire and 2 white.
I noticed th eLambda sensor on my car has a white, red and black wire
Which one goes to which???
thanks
Mark.

It should come with a diagram?
Black will be the signal, and the other 2 are heater / power and don't mind which way they are connected
I would check with where you bought it 1st...
Adrum, did you reset the ECU or anything? What filter did you have on and what year is your car? MAF rarely gives a CEL, o2 frequently does....

Mark.
It did come with diagram as you stated.
But as the standard one in the car has a black, red and white.
Is it a case of black to black, and then white joins white and white joins red???
cheers

White is the signal from the original sensor (from memory mind you!), connect this to the black on your new one. Other 2 dont mind which ones they connect to. To make sure, use a test meter on the white wire and ensure its somewhere from 0-0.9v when car is warm.
